    Hey all,
I just got an e-mail from pricejapan telling me that
a)i won't be able to use it in england because of the voltage
b)i won't be able to read the instructions, onscreen aswell!, becauase they are all in japanese!!!
So i did the next best thing and ordered a PT-AE200 for £700 quid yes 700 QUID!!!that has got to be the bargain of the century IMO, of course, and probably all of yours.
Should be coming in the next few days I CAN'T WAIT, first taste of big film action, of course in my own home!
    YAYAYYAYAAYYA
    Regards
    Fred
p.s. maybe save up for the PT-AE500 in the summer

Panny ae200 availible from www.digitaldirectuk.com for £731. Surely a better deal cos you are dealing with a company in the uk. (I bought my ae100 from them and it was delivered next day with no probs).......................

Has anyone else ever bought from PriceJapan before and was the service any good? Are you not screwed if it breaksdown at any point in time?

The New Sony HS20 is good value there.

Yeah i would recommend them just because of the very good reviews they have had on this forum, very quick delivery and very quick replies to e-mails, if you pay a bit extra you can send it back for nothing and he will replace if any problems.
Don't forget though that you have to add on 17.5 percent tax at the end, you will get it in a few months after buying it, so make sure you have enough left over!
    Regards
    Fred

I purchased 2 x Yamaha LPX500 pjs from them a few months back. They arrived, amazingly well packaged, in about 3 days. Paid for ship back option and had to use it one of them due to dead pixels. Turned around in about 8 or 9 days.

SUPERB service. They keep you informed by e-mail at every stage and deliver quicker than many UK / European companies.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in using them again. Paid no tax, just VAT which is unavoidable. The bill for the Vat may arrive a few months later so make sure you budget for it.

I know, I was lucky, I still thought the VAT bill was going to arrive 6 months after I bought the projector.

If you have to add 17.5% VAT to the quoted price with Price Japan then surely its cheaper to buy from Digital Direct based in the uk?

you have to realise that a year ago the PT-AE200 would have been a hell-of-alot more than it is now, because then it was a new release from Panasonic in the U.K and was retailing at £1500, the best price probably around £1300 and the price you see at pricejapan is probably the price it was then, or quite similar, so you would have saved a lot even with tax.

If the Jap AE500 is only rated at 100-120V is there any way it can be used here? Is it possible to get transformers suitable? I've got a 240V to 100V transformer but it's only rated for 80W which I guess won't be good enough.

    Cheers,
    Andy.

You can get transformers yes, but then what to do about the language problem?not beign able to change settings will not allow you to get proper picture quality, also it doesn't have a scart input and it is a lot of hassle sending it back if it has problems.
Conclusion:wait till it comes out in the UK or get a worthy alternative the PT-AE200 from komplett, definately value for money and few problems..peace of mind

I don't see the language problem as being too crucial to be honest. Somebody will work out what the menus do and publish a translation. Also I'm not bothered about a scart input, VGA, DVI and component are all I need. I don't see the point of getting an AE200 when something that is such an improvement is imminent and with a little shopping around not too much more expensive. The AE200 doesn't have DVI which makes it a non starter as far as I'm concerned. I'm in two minds as to whether to get the AE500 or Sanyo PLV-Z2, awaiting owner opinions with interest!

    Cheers
    Andy

    hey ya Andy,
To be fair you are right, i should have waited a bit longer and ordered a PT-AE500, but as i am only 16 funds are tight so i saw the PT-AE200=less hassle and competant ability so just went for it, i would have had to skimp on other things to get the PT-AE500, eg getting a new sofa for my hc room, getting a good enough screen etc
    regards
    Fred
