    Hi,

i wondered if there is a way to set 16:9 as default in TMPGenc author 1.5,
because no matter what material i record, it always displays 4:3 in
    clip information.
my TV, the sky box and the Panasonic DMR-e55 i'm using are all set to 16:9
    ??

    thx,

today it surprised me again an did recognize a movie recorded from sky as 16:9, so i'm just assuming that the aspect ratio was switched in the movies i recorded before that either just before the beginning of the film or just after the end.......

AFAIK TMP does not have a 16:9 option.

This isn't a problem when previewing clips (they just looked squashed) but IS when creating menus.

Hopefully they'll change this in future versions.

I notice the latest versions of Pinnacle 9 and Video Studio 8 have 16:9 options.

    thx for the reply Kevo,
just noticed with the menus..... made a menu for 'Heat' with the DVD cover
as a picture and it chopped DeNiro and Pacino's names when i watch it on TV
    not on Power DVD though.
Pinnacle 9 and Studio 8, can you tell me if either one of these programmes supports the input of .vro (DVD-Ram) video files?

    thx,

    Dont know about Pinnacle.

Just started using Studio 8 and haven't found a way of importing VRO from RAM.

I use TMP Author to import RAM (vro) and select 'Copy to Hard disk' and use these mpg files in Studio.

If there's a better way i'd like to know?

I don't think TMP Author re-encodes so quality wise i don't think this way will be matched with cheaper software.

Also invest in TMP DVD Plus which is one of the best converter/encoder software you can get.

Strangely enough Ulead DVD Workshop 2 (same company as studio 8) does allow for vro import!
