You'd be better off using the Divide function on your Panny assuming it is in VRO format.

However you can indeed split the recording using TMPG Enc Author: the easiest way is probably to import the who video clip twice (as seperate titles) and CUT the unwanted sections on each.

    Two other questions:

How do you get the audio when editing?

I'm unaware of a divide function on my Panny E55 - am I missing something?

    TIA

    Hi Witters
To divide the title in author just load in the single title and then set start frame at the end of the first episode and end frame at the end of the title and cut it out....this is then your first program as 1 title then add another title and add the original single title and cut out the first program the same as above and you will have the 2 programs split as 2 titles.

Hope this makes sense...let me know if not and I'll try and improve my explanation;)

    Regards...Andrew

Ooops Just re-read the post and saw this had been suggested sorry!!

Assuming it's in AC3 (Dolby Digital) then you'll need to purchase the AC3 Plug-in, otherwise you'll just have to edit without sound or opt for PCM at the Panny recording end, not recommended as PCM takes up a lot more space than DD.

Either way the output recording from TMP can still playback in DD.

You're going to find that a lot of the low end software packages won't allow for DD playback whilst editing because of the high cost of the license from Dolby.

You're talking three figures for a decent package with DD licensed
