Why is there a loss of picture quality when watching tv through Tivo ?

RGB is on, scarts are ok, 2.5.5 running and re-booted.

Cheers

How is the quality diminished? Are you watching direct or via TiVo by-pass? (When the orange LED glows). By-pass is neutral and gives the best results.

When I watch TV by pressing 'Live TV' on the remote the picture is worse than when I press 'Aux' to view Sky 'Direct'

??

When you are using Live TV on TiVo, the TiVo is basically recording what you are watching into it's buffer. You are seeing the end result of the MPEG Encode-Decode Process. While the result is not perfect and does look different to using the AUX bypass button, I personally think it looks very good.

I'm feeding NTL digital into mine, which looks crap to start with.

Think 'duplo' lego.

common, when you say the picture is bad when watching live TV what exactly do you mean?

I've found that on RGB live TV is brighter and harsher than when watching aux. AFAIK there is no way round this except to watch aux bypass( or adjust your tv settings, only practical if you watch nothing but Tivo on your TV).
