    Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a HD system and am currently weighing up the pros and cons of Sky+ and Tivo. However things have become more complicated now I've seen the US tivo site is advertsing the new Tivo 2 with 'upto 60 hours recording'. Does this mean a bigger harddrive or just more compression? The thing that is bugging me with both Sky+ and Tivo are they only have 40GB harddrives. I work away from home for long periods meaning 12 hours HQ recording isn't much. Does anyone know if/when Tivo 2 is being released here?

Well + has no low qual mode as it records the off air signal. You can expect 20 hours from an unmodded box. Still may not be enough for you though.

Sky+ can also be upgraded to a bigger HD. 120Gb max giving around 60-70 hrs. Its supposed to be easier to do than TIVO as well. Go to the hacking SKY+ thread in the PVR forum of Digital spy

Thanks - I've decided to go for Sky+ so the possibility of expanding the Hard drive is very tempting.

I put a 120Gb disk in my Sky+ yesterday, piece of cake, took about ten minutes.

    Hi,

If you stress test my + system by recording a program while also delaying live TV (not just pausing) you can see frame loss.

How does you new system behave.
