I'll second that. You can't go wrong with a TiVo for £150 or so. I got mine for £99, and am feeling kinda guilty about getting such a deal. (but not too guilty )
As said, TiVo are committed to providing the service in the UK. It also pays them very well, so I expect they would only pull out as a last resort.
If you're really paranoid, pick one up and go for the monthly subscription instead of the one-off payment. That way, you don't lose any £££ if they cancel the sub service.
I am a little worried about having no stock to replace them if the machine dies, but you should at least get your money back regardless. But I've spent more on a night out than this thing costs, so I'm not too worried either way.
As a standalone dumb video recorder, the TiVo is easily worth £200. With the sub... it's priceless.
