I was going to buy Romeo and Juliet SE and noticed a 3 pack on play for £14.99 including Romeo and Juliet (anyone know if this is the SE?), The Beach and Titanic.

The strange thing is that play have Titanic listed as a new release for 25/08/2003 and an aspect ratio of 4:3. This seems very strange to me. I would have though if they were to re-release Titanic it would be at 2.30:1 and anamorphic.

DVD Popcorn list it at 4:3, 2.30:1, see here.

That made me think it was a flipper but then it says DVD 9 which is single sided dual layer!

Can anyone tell me what is what?

    Thanks.

Sure the re-release is just because they've dropped the price to 5.99 or thereabouts.Still the same old rubbish version then

The first version was 2.30:1 non-anamorphic IIRC. That is why I am confused. If this is 4:3 they have taken a step backward.

    No dates have been given.

Maybe 2004 but don't hold your breath.

Be prepared to pay a ridiculous amount for it. When it was first released on Video/DVD it was at least 50% more expensive than everything else. I think it's safe to say you can expect even more daylight robbery with the release of the Special Edition.

On the back of fox discs they have the ratio of the film + the ratio of the dvd. So Titanic, being non-anamorphic, says 2.30:1 AND 4:3. This must be where they got their info from.

James Cameron said in an interview with a magazine that they were working on a new special edition of Titanic.
He also said to expect it within the next 12 or 18 months.

I expect we will see the new special edition around christmas 2004.

Oh well I remember when Titamic was release - £30 for a non-anamorphic extra less girly film - they thought it would clean up - it bombed.

Very soon after a science fiction/action film was released for £20 - normally £17 with tons of extras which became the new DVD best seller - The Matrix.

I still haven't seen Titanic, I may watch it when next on BBC.
