does anyone know whether they are releasing a SE version of Titanic?
There are always rumours about a special edition, but I havent heard anything official. However, as I have said before, I cant stand the film and therefore I havent exactly been looking.
exactly! there should be 2 versions. One called theatrical cut and one "improved lads version" in the latter we have Leonardo die about thirty times and kate showing her ***** more often. we would get straight to the love scene and straight after that to the iceberg. Otherwise I won't watch it again.
About the SE then: there have been rumours since the release of the first disc but nothing official yet. looks lik eparamount are still looking for extras, or are too lazy to do so.
As long as they don't cut that bit where the bloke his the propeller *donk*, makes me laugh every time!
The reason there are delays with Titanic SE are to do with rights issues.
Fox own the rights in the US, But Paramount have the european rights and distribution deal for early titles. This is due to expire 1st quarter this year I believe, and there will be a Five star type box set with dts and commentary etc. But don't hold me to that now.
how many times do u watch it then??
The problem with the film is just that it takes too mcuh time to establish the characters so in the end when they are about to die u don't mind coz they'e annoyed u too much.
The FX are great though. If I ever watch it again I'll watch from the iceberg onwards...then again I don't like watching only a half of the film.....
I'll just leave it then
I agree with that. I couldnt wait for that DiCrapio bloke to sink. It took 3 hours!
I think i saw it at the cinema, on the TV and on DVD, but I no longer have the DVD. I probably wouldn't buy it again to be honest.
Erm I think it's the other way around in fact.
US right is owned by Paramountclick me
UK by Fox: me too me too
DiCaprio was pretty bad, but Billy Zane? Oh. Dear. God.
Have to agree that it could have done with a lot less of either of them and a lot more of Kate Winslet with no clothes on....
What I do like about that film is the fact that the american scriptwriters apparently failed to appreciate the significance of a British girl (our Kate) announcing "When we get to New York I'm getting off with you!" Especially funny as it's immediately after the steamy bit in the car. "Think you already did, love...".
Oh yes, he was abysmal. Strutting around like a pantomime villain.
Alright so I made a little mistake with that one :kisses:
That's it - I've lost all confidence in you now
I've heard talk of an "alternate ending" on the SE
Seems "originally", the ice berg sank
Don't know if there's any truth in this though
What with James Camerons career?
Whats with the Titanic bashing. Here a guy asks a perfectly normal question in a Forum where he expects the members to be knowledgeable and intelligent and all you guys can do is rave on about how bad it is and that all you wants is the tit ass and action. Does not give me much respect for the clientelle of this forum nor its moderators.
Titanic is IMHO a movie that is loved the world over and that IMO gets better with every viewing. Yes, it may drag a little in the middle, but I think the character buildup is important, and that both Leo and Kate does a very good job in their role. I am really looking forward to an anamorphic version of the film, maybe if they do it right a mega set like FOTR Extended. DTS would be very appreciated also.
Next time if your only gonna scream negativity about a film, either start your own I hate "name of film" or just shut up entirely.
Thank you THX1138 for your input.
oooo get her!!!
if there was a smilie for a handbag i would put it HERE
mr chadwick, thank you for proving my point
If Saucytoes question has been answered, then what is wrong with having an ongoing conversation about the film?
I thought it was normal on most forums that once a question has been answered we can talk more about the film. Pity in this case that most people don't like the film.
I don't think it is loved by the whole world either. They just managed to get the marketing just right: Love story for the girls and SFX of a huge boat sinking for the boys. So a lot of people went to see it (me too but I had a free tocket)
And the only reason why lets say LOTR didn't play in more money is because a lot of people don't like Fantasy.
The reason Titanic made so much money at the box office is simply because most of the people who saw it were teenage girls in love with DiCaprio who went six or seven times so they could swoon over him and complain that Kate Winslet was too old for him. (She's actually younger than him, of course).
What in the hell do women see in DiCaprio anyway? There's plenty of movie stars I can understand women being attracted to: Sean Connery, Brad Pitt, Sean Bean, George Clooney. But DiCaprio looks positively androgynous, or at the very least prepubescent. What's up with that? Do women really want little boys instead of men?
Hey some women like women. Do you hear men complain when that happens?
forget 'titanic' get 'a night to remember' and watch a proper film.
When a woman leaves me for another woman, you bet I complain.
Interesting choice of words. "When" and not "If".
Sorry to hear that Nicolas, but how often has that happened.
Separate names with a comma.
