I know there doesn't seem to be on in the works, but how many people would buy it? I really liked the movie and the DVD is pretty barebones, I expected to see a SE by now, but it doesn't seem too likely. But they should release one Pearl Harbor style :smashin:

J Cameron always stated that Titanic should be a cinema experience only as you needed the large screen to appreciate it, the DVD release was not his idea at all hence the barren features. Re the actual film, I think it should have started when the iceberg hit, all the other stuff was just made to get chicks and families to watch it and it god damn worked :)

Titanic should have had a special edition from the start. Anamorphic with DTS would have suited me fine!

Also remastered special editions of the following would be nice

    Shawshank Redemption (poor transfer)
    Matrix
    Deliverance
    Psycho
    Grease (poor transfer)
Carrie (poor transfer, too many dancing pixels)
American werewolf in London (needs new remaster)
    T2 (massively disapointing transfer!)
    Stand by me (poor transfer)

Anyone heard of any plans for the above?

    T2?

The remastered version is THX rated so by definition is a good transfer, the sound is excellent too. Loads of extras and titbits plus 2 versions of the film, all for the same price as a normal movie............what more do you want

If a vhs tape can get THX approval the term THX approval is rubbish:thumbsdow

*cough* first release of Highlander was THX certified and remains the worst transfer I've seen. Looked like a VCD.

I see nothing dreadful about the T2 remaster, though, or The Matrix for that matter. I would say in the case of the Matrix, the last thing we need is another issue.

THX is not the last word in quality and ive seen edge enhancement which shouldnt be there in THX releases Star Wars The Phantom Menace anyone ? Superbit titles are everything THX should have been but wasn't as for Terminator 2 theres 3 versions of the film on the same disc not 2 and i thought the transfer was fine but there is a dropout on the DTS track just as the titles roll ((dolby track is fine)) also Jim Cameron discusses special editions on T2 and is a big fan of them so id expect a Titanic special edition sometime next year.

Theatrical and Special Editions on my copy, what's this 3rd version?

MartinImber - The THX specs for DVD obviously differ from VHS expectations, the exact specifications are secret I think.

KRRK - Highlander was originally grainy so the version you speak of was indeed a faithfull transfer, I have the THX Laserdisc version and it's the same. I actually saw Highlander only a few years ago at a special showing in a cinema and the pic was virtually identical to the Laserdisc (ie rather crap) :)

I'm not just talking about grain on highlander. There was horrible compression and artifacts as well. The VHS widescreen copy I have is better. There is a third version of T2, accessed through some sort of secret code.

LOL, all this time and I didn't know there was a third version, thanks for that FoxyM :smashin:

KRRK - Ever considered that you may have a bad copy, I can't see a movie getting a THX rating if the picture is as blatantly bad as you suggest, THX have their reputation to think about. I'm not saying that THX are perfect but in general when they rate a film it does stand out from the rest especially in sonic terms.

If Lucasfilm (owners of THX) have their reputation to think about, why did they release those first two dodgy "Star Wars" episodes?
