    Hi,

    I'm trying to record timed programs from Sky using the Personal Planner without any luck. I have the following connections :-

    Sky TV -> E85 AV2
    Sky Video -> TV AV1
    E85 AV2 -> TV AV4
    E85 Component -> TV Component

    Recording Sky when present is fine as is recording from terrestrial. I previously had no problems recording with the personal planner with 'Ext Link' but wanted the improved PQ of RGB.

    All leads are 21 pin & Sky output is RGB.

    Should the recorder be on or in standby, or doesn't it matter.

    :lease:
    Regards
    Martyn.

    You can either use RGB quality recording or use Ext Link for Personal Planner recording. Unfortunately it can't be both.

    Personally I prefer the better quality RGB recording and use the timer function on the E85 to switch on/off along with the Personal Planner if necessary to change Sky channel.

    Agreed - but in my case the Personal Planner timer doesn't kick off the recorder, I'm not sure what is wrong but the pictures are all fine.
    As I said before should I put the recorder in standby or not ?

    Regards
    Martyn.

    There is nothing wrong - it just can't be done. The Ext Link function will only work from the VCR scart on Sky and this doesn't output RGB. To get RGB you have to use the TV scart and this doesn't give the info needed to kick off recording.

    I'm afraid you have to decide which is more important for you.

    Ahh - I see, you mean that when recording with RGB the E85 timer has to be set but with the Ext Link the Personal Planner works ?
