I’ve currently got a 42” Panasonic plasma in the corner of north facing lounge which has served our family well for half a decade but watching movies in HDR courtesy of the snazzy new LASER projections at my local Luxe Odeon has given me a dose of upgraditis!
From what I gather a 48” OLED seems the obvious choice (guessing a QLED even with ultra-wide tech still cannot match plasma for viewing angles) but do manufacturers cut corners on these smaller sets? As I read that the latest Evo panels are only available in the 55” and 65” versions this year.
TV will be used mostly for broadcast shows (occasionally with subtitles for older family members who are hard of hearing) from Virgin Media TiVo box plus football and tennis on Sky / BT Sports HD and movies on Amazon Prime in UHD. My games consoles have gathered dust in recent years but perhaps new TV will reignite my enthusiasm to pick up joypad.
Won’t be using TV speakers for audio, as already have a receiver with 5.1 set-up.
