    Hi there,

This is my first post into the forum so please go easy on me if I do anything wrong. I am needing advice on amp + speakers, I hope you don't mind me mentioning it all in the same thread.

I have been seeking advice from friends and work colleagues and I have to confess my head is in tatters. The Home Cinema front is just mind blowing. First of all it might help if I explain my current system...

    Sherwood RVD6095RDS
    Gale Satellite 10
    Gale Centre 10
    Gale Gold Monitor (BCH)
    Paradigm PDR10

I am thinking about keeping the sub and selling the rest at work/online.

My budget for the amp is about £600 and I was thinking of getting the Marantz SR7200. I have had Denon AVC-1D and Yamaha DSP-A1 suggested if I can find one second hand, but that has proved mission impossible. I think hand on heart I would prefer something new and with a guarantee. What would you guys recommend on the amp front please?

For speakers I am looking between £400-£600 for the job lot. Kef, B&W and Mission have all been mentioned to me. Once gain though this has just totally blown my mind. B&W are quite expensive from what I have seen and I have seen lots of very positive posts on Mission in the AV Forums. Any suggestions on the speaker side please?

There seems to be a lot of clued up people in these forums and any help is going to be very much appreciated indeed.

    Many thanks,

    Gary...

The amp of the moment seems to be the Denon 3802 which is available at about £650 but you may have to wait a while as supplies seem to be sporadic.

The speakers of the moment are the KEF eggs which are £800 (list) for the five sats plus sub but are for sale individually so you would not have to buy a sub.

The combination of Denon / Kef has been reported on favourably by forum members.

If you don´t want to waist too much time, but want a sure hit, go with Ian, the 2802 should be ok too, and bring the total closer to your budget...

I got my Kefs in December from M&D Design Price was Appox 640 incl. VAT & Del. You need to look at the Home Cinema page.
They also sell the Eggs seperately at approx £65 each

There was some talk in other threads that KEF have since requested M&D to no longer sell their speakers on the net or over the phone but I could be wrong.

Give them a call and ask is my suggestion.

    M&D
    TEL +44 (0) 1299 250 991
    FAX +44 (0) 1299 250 983

I went for the KEF Eggs and Denon 3802. Sounds great to me although im no audiophile. Got the Denon from
    HiFi Junikies also for £650.

    Hope that helps.

Many thanks for all your comments. I must admit that this is doing my head, I just hope I can make some sort of decision soon.

    Cheers,

    Gary.
