Time to replace my old trusted Panny Plasma

I need some advice.

I'm an expat living in Czech Republic

I'm looking to replace my 6 year old 42" Panasonic Plasma that has served me so well.

Looking to spend up to £1k and 50" minimum.

Main usage is watching sport in HD but also still watch a lot of SD.

3D not so important. A sat tuner would be useful.

I always thought I would only ever go for plasma but now not so sure.

Would want to stick to Panasonic / Sony / Samsung

I can get a Panny P50GT60E for £1k but was also thinking of seeing what the new Panny AS650 was like.

I also read good reviews of the Sony W829 but unfortunately the model is not released over here.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If your interested in the sony have a look if it is a different model number in the Czech Republic. There is the kdl50w805, the new panny's look interesting although I've not seen much feedback on them. I did find this link however I think it's in Slovakia, Google translate is not always the best

The new w805b does seem almost identical to the w829 in uk

I'm off to the Sony store to take a look tomorrow.

For your needs I'd get a GT60 if you can, great TV.

I spent all day yesterday visiting many stores and at the end of the day all I had was a headache!!

The shop selling the penny P50GT60 was a waste of time. They had the last one but it was a returned unit with a big scratch in the corner. No shop thought they would get any more

I spent a long time in the Sony shop playing with the w805b (the sales guy was great and seemed to really know his stuff).

I also went to the specialist Samsung store and there was a UE48H6640 that, to be honest, blew me away. I was so close to buying it but I wanted to read some reviews first. Problem is I cannot find anything on the web.

Does anyone here have any experience with the H6600 series?

I'm going to lie down now!!!

Just an update. After further deliberation, I decided to go for the Sony W805B.

Picked it up yesterday. So far, I'm very impressed but will have a proper play with the settings today.
