I've got a no-mark 905x based box I used for Kodi (local files only) with CoreElec. It kinda works OK, but there's issues with double pressing on the remote, the way it goes in to standby and 4k playback over wifi (used to be fine hardwired but due to Circumstances I'm a few months away from ethernet to the AV stack). As I get older, I'm also less inclined to be fannying around with downloading builds and editing configs these days. So I'm looking for a 4k mkv player that supports bitstream audio, 4K (potentially HDR) and is supported by regular updates that I don't have to put on a USB stick and start praying to the gods to install. I've shortlisted:
- nVidia Shield. Potentially secondhand, missing remote (I have a Harmony, and I'm tight)
- OSMC Vero 4K+
