‘Time After Time’ Kevin Williamson Time-Travel Drama About HG Wells Set At ABC

Using the 1979 novel and movie as a starting point, Time After Time will chronicle the epic adventures of young H.G. Wells and his Time Machine.

In the book and and in the feature starring Malcolm McDowell, David Warner and Mary Steenburgen, H. G. Wells — the bestselling author of The Time Machine andWar Of The Worlds — has invented a time machine. He shows the contraption to his friends, oblivious to the fact that one of them, surgeon Leslie John Stephenson, is in fact the infamous Jack the Ripper. When Scotland Yard detectives get on Stevenson’s trail, the murderer uses the time machine to flee to the future, getting transported to 1979 San Francisco. He is quickly followed by Wells who is trying to bring him to justice.

Williamson will write the script and will executive produce Time After Time through his Outerbanks Entertainment and WBTV. The writer-producer, repped by WME, also co-created WBTV’s long-running CW drama The Vampire Diaries, created Dawson’s Creek and wrote the Screamand I Know What You Did Last Summer horror staples.

‘Time After Time’: Freddie Stroma To Star As H.G. Wells in Kevin Williamson’s Pilot
Stroma will play H.G. Wells, the author of The Time Machine who actually created a functioning time machine

Josh Bowman To Play Jack the Ripper In Kevin Williamson Pilot ‘Time After Time’
Bowman will play John Stevenson, a brilliant and charismatic surgeon who lives a double life as the infamous serial killer Jack the Ripper. In the 1979 movie, the role was played by David Warner.

‘Time After Time’: Genesis Rodriguez Cast As Female Lead In ABC Pilot
Rodriguez will play Jane Walker, the museum curator who captivates H.G. Wells (Stroma) upon his arrival in modern day New York.

‘Time After Time’ ABC Pilot Casts Regina Taylor
Taylor will play trusted Wells’ ally Vanessa Anders, the billionaire businesswoman who owns and protects the Time Machine in 2016 New York City. Confident and strong, she has a warm welcoming smile, but make no mistake, she’s also a respected, sometimes feared CEO.

Jordin Sparks Joins ‘Time After Time’ ABC Pilot From Kevin Williamson
Sparks will play New York stylist Jesse Givens who is also Jane Walker’s (Rodriguez) roommate and good friend. Williamson wrote Time After Time and is executive producing. Marcos Siega is directing. Warner Bros. TV is the studio.

I really liked the film, the trailer seems OK, will definitely give it a go although will be surprised if it gets past one season. There again, I thought the same about 12 Monkeys which is one of my favourite films. Enjoyed the first season of 12 Monkeys, have yet to start the second.

They've put the whole of the original film in the trailer lol, is nothing a surprise anymore. I'm a fan of the movie so I'll give this a go.

Sounds like they may have remade the film to use it as a starting point for the series. The film was superb and they'll have trouble coming anywhere near that standard.

They won't cone anywhere near the film. H G looks OK but the guy playing Stephenson looks like he should be modelling pants or posing with young animals.

‘‘Time After Time’: Jennifer Ferrin Joins Kevin Williamson ABC Drama
Ferrin will play Brooke, a New York City doctor. After a flirtatious encounter with a stranger who turns out to be John Stevenson (aka Jack the Ripper), Brooke soon becomes the infamous serial killer’s next unwitting target. But when Brooke proves herself to be a perfect match for John both romantically and intellectually, she’ll cause the Ripper to question his murderous intentions.

Will Chase Joins "Time After Time"
Chase will play Griffin, who is described as an ambitious and charismatic war veteran vying to be New York’s next state senator

Here’s the official description from ABC: “As boyfriend to billionaire Vanessa Anders, he’s also one half of Manhattan’s most talked about power couple. But when a mysterious man in the form of H.G. Wells suddenly becomes a major distraction in Vanessa’s life, Griffin finds his relationship with her strained and his patience tested.”

episode 3, lol ... John met his match Brooke :rotfl: but from promo next week ....

episode 4, 3 parties wanted the time machine to manipulate events , while Wells just wanted John back to his own timeline ;)
the extreme of Wells & John :p , Wells very honest rather slow to catchup need to ponder consequences for every little situations also for every little differences between timelines he will compare with his time while John very cunning always prepared to move on disregardless

now, John not only wanted to escape capture but wanted to reach out to his son to prevent him from dying

Brook & Griffin wanted to stop Chad's father stole the Utopia from their dad , this could result in Chad's father kill by Brook & Griffin father but not David & Vanessa will not be so wealthy

from previous episode, Chad's mum seemed to be under someone cared that he had to leave hurriedly, could this be Brook & Griffin ?:smoke:

questions remain how those dads' descendants know John & Wells will appear in the present timeline

the ratings isn't too optimistic, likely to be one seasoner hopefully with proper closure :)

Cancelled and pulled after 5 eps
ABC has pulled freshman drama series Time After Time from its schedule after five low-rated episodes. The Kevin Williamson time-travel drama will be replaced by Match Game on Sunday nights for now, ABC confirmed to Deadline.

The move effectively cancels the new series. There are no plans at the present time to air the remaining two episodes. Time After Time has been a poor ratings performer, averaging just 2.2 million weekly viewers and a 0.5 demo rating.

American networks stink

nevertheless that's settled  for this ; right now, pending renewal news for falling water which is not too positive :)

Sometimes you need to give shows time to find their feet though. Not everything is going to be an obvious hit in the first few episodes.

frustration aside  , with that sort of ratings even they reschedule the remaining 2 episodes the differences are not going to help much unless the network feels the storyline is strong & very expandable & the leads &/or characters are very likeable through feedbacks or for other reasons want to continue the series :)

^^^ nope it's idiot execs just looking at the ratings ... not bothered about feedback at all
- there were only two episodes left! - they could easily have made a double ep finale and given it a bit of a promo push encouraging new viewers to catch up online ... no real business creativity with those bean counters
