    Hi

I've got one of the dodgy Othello electric screens.

It's wider at the bottom than the top, and the aspect ratio is way off being correct 16:9.

The problem is that it's buried in the ceiling and removing it will require lifting a laminate floor which I'm none too keen to do.

I was thinking of remasking the screen to make the picture square and the right aspect ratio but am wary of doing so in case this causes problems when the screen is retracted.

I'm looking for some very black, and very thin, self adhesive stuff to do this with - anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi

I was looking for something a bit more hi-tech. I'm sure someone mentioned some kind of self adhesive felt?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi

Will do - probably not until the weekend now though.

I'll do before and after shots.

Have you got the same problem then?

    Steve

    Hi

    It worked an absolute treat.

Here are the before and after pictures. Note the incorrect aspect ratio (gap at the top) and the stretched gaps at the bottom left/right.

    Dodgy Screen

Yes I have the same problem

How exactly did you do this?

What did you use and where do you get it

How did it affect the way the screen rolled up

    Hi

    Black flock tape 5M x 2" £14+VAT from Nexnix (www.nexnix.co.uk)

    I did the following:-

    1) Project an image which filled the screen (TiVo menu in my case)
    2) Aligned the projector with the metal bar at the bottom of the screen
    3) Stuck a strip of the above tape across the top of the screen to correct the error in aspect ratio
    4) Stuck two strips - one down each side - to correct the bow

I have a 7ft screen - one 5M roll of tape was perfect (I was left with about 8 inches!)

Only thing I would advise would be to have the side pieces go right down onto the metal bar - after a day or two I ended up with small gaps and needed to stick a couple of extra pieces on. If I had ovelapped the left and right pieces a bit further down, this wouldn't have been necessary.

It has made a world of difference though - I found myself being constantly irritated before and this has cleared it up completely.

£16.45 well spent in my mind.

    All the best,

    Steve
