Hi everyone, I'm after some help please. I'm looking into buying an HD LCD TV in the near future, but have had several LCD Computer screens ruined by thunderbugs crawling between the LCD panel and the backlight then dying.
For those of you not living in Deepest Darkest Essex, thunderbugs are tiny little black insects about 1.5mm long that swarm during harvest time. They get in picture frames and anything else similar, then just die!
So basically my question is are LCD TV's manufactured differently to Computer flatscreens or will this problem affect any TV I buy? I realise that from normal viewing distance they probably would not be noticeable, but will not buy one if they are not "thunderbug proof"
    Thanks for your help!

There are actually some threads on this forum with owners of LCD tvs that have been unlucky enough to experience exactly what you're describing, so I'd say no, they are not quite Thundbug proof.

I suspect, though, that, once dead, a minor tap of the screen will see them drop out of view.

I have a thunderbug in a TFT monitor, very annoying.

Can be moved around by tapping the scren, but never out of view yet,

Maybe I should ask Sharp if they have a ' Dead Thunderbug Policy' :D

    Mark.

Sorry Ben, newbie mistake, didn't find any other threads to this problem.
I wonder if any thunderbugs were to die in the screen while it is under guarantee, if you could get it repaired/replaced under warranty as it would surely count as a design fault. hmmmm living where I do I could get a new telly every year! lol
