Three of coins?

Hi I have been doing strikes with the three of coins loaded and no exotics have dropped. Initially The Icon showing the coins has been consumed is shown on the character page, but after one strike it is no longer there. I get the vanguard streak icon as I continue with strikes. Any thoughts?

Hmmmm, how many have you used?

I'd say it seems to be about 1 in 5 or slightly less that an exotic engram will actually drop. The icon showing its active will disappear as you say either way so you would need to use another.

They put a cool down on the drop rate as people abused it in the first week (guilty ) so you want to leave it around 5 minutes in between the bosses you take down, though if running strikes this shouldn't matter.

There are some bosses which don't count (Psion flayers, Omnigull) but not aware if it still consumes the coin or not?

Well... if you do a strike where you've popped a Three of Coins [Toc] on, and you can see the icon on the character page as you say, and then take down a boss like Alak-hul you may or may not get an Exotic Engram but the ToC is still consumed. When you start your next strike, or sometime during that next strike, you'll need to pop another ToC to get another chance for an engram.

I went through around 13 of them before one dropped. Other times I've had two drop in five. It's quite random.

As W1A1T2E4R3Z2 has said there is something where mutiple uses of ToCs in a short space of time will reduce the chances of getting an engram, but nobody really knows what the time is. You'd hope, that one at the beginning of each strike doesn't handicap you. And again, as said, there are some where bosses which don't count. You'd have to look up exactly which ones though!

I got 3 exotics drop in one strike using 2 of them once. On a Barron spell with them now.

If an exotic engram drops in the raid is it best to wait until light level goes above 300 or does it decrypt at level you got it?

Stick it in the vault and decrypt once you're over 300, you might get a 310 then. Worked for me!

May not really be on subject but as the title of the thread is appropriate I'll post here rather than clutter up the forum with a new one.

These three of coins drive me nuts. I've seen people say they typically get an exotic from between 5-10 Three of Coins uses. Not me, almost always takes me 20-30 Three of Coins and when the exotic does drop it more often than not is Ahamkara Grasps(which I've now had 7 of in as many weeks), wrong class 290 items(I'm currently 305 so expected more 310's to drop), Sky Burners Anex(had loads of these also) or Heavy Weapons which I rarely use.

Most of my different exotics are from buying off Xur which the occasional blessing of a different random exotic, but the odds are just dreadful

A couple of my mates get tons of better stuff for far less coins, consistently. Am I alone or is anyone else constantly RNG screwed? It feels like once I've got a new exotic, I can expect my next few drops to be the same item.

I use them a lot in PvP, rate seems about the same for me as PvE though if slightly better, on average probably around 20 3OC between drops.

I might try stacking two at a time, did this by mistake the other day and an exotic dropped that game. Could have been coincidence obviously but seeing as I have to use so many between drops anyway it could work.

Going to try it tonight.

Do you consume one every game? I tend to go every other game or two and the drop rate improved.

With the 310 drops they are only guaranteed once you hit 311, the chance of them dropping under that level are quite small I think.

Tend to use them one after another. Perhaps I'll try your method and stagger them more.

It's also probably worth saving any exotics you get now in the vault untill you hit 311 to get the 310 drops. Couple of raids should see you there.

Won't help across the ships, I speak from experience (and not being able to jump-before @crouchystfc says it ).

If you can't get across the ships with Bones on you should really be thinking about giving up gaming

Not worrying about it. I've been pulled through more than a few times. Like you said, we've all been there.
