At last "Threads" is available again. I've been dying to see this for ages but refused to purchase a poor quality pirate or way overpriced original on ebay. Just got it delivered from Play this morning so some joyful viewing coming up

Joyful is hardly the word I would use to describe this film :D
    Morbid viewing maybe :)

Well I enjoyed it if thats the correct word

Harrowing and more scary than 100 Slasher movies

Would very much like to see a remake set in todays climate - my only problem was it did not seem long enough

    About time.
They need to sit Trump down in front of that. Mind you, he'd probably treat it as a to-do list

Any longer and you'd slash your wrists. I thought it was damn near perfect.

That is very funny and frightening at the same time.

This still sits in my memory. Probably 25+ years after seeing it at School.
At the time it was extremely harrowing and so brilliantly done.

I watched it recently on a poor quality YouTube video, still has the impact.

Threads is one of the select few once seen, never forgotten films, for me. I've carried the image of those melting milk bottles with me since childhood.
It'll be nice to finally be able to upgrade my ropey looking dvd

For me it’s the women in the middle of the shopping/high street wetting herself just before she gets vaporised by the blast wave.

That and the cutting off of legs with a rusty saw and no anaesthetic.

yeah, they didn't hold back did they. And to think it was BBC drama way back in the dark ages of 3 TV channels that all ceased broadcasting by midnight

There was a tv debate on it. One politician criticized it for only showing the negative side of a nuclear war.

If I remember correctly she said that the number of casualties in a nuclear strike on Sheffield would be around the same as those suffered during the Blitz on London during the Second World War. The British spirit got us through that so it would be the same in this event.

Watching the trailer at work with no audio was scary. I remember watching it at the time.

Will try to get the BR. Thanks for posting.

100% funny for me. Frightening, nah.

Wowza. A BR release. Fantastic news  Hopefully a whole new load of peeps will see this movie.

Wonder how it will look. Could be a revalation given that i’ve only ever seen it on crappy TV/VHS etc.

I always found the dvd was more than serviceable but this restoration should definitely squeeze the best out of the 16mm they shot it on. I'm sure it'll still look as miserable and suitably suicidally drab as it's always looked, but "nicer" with it. The trailer's convinced me I won't have seen it look better, and that's just a crappy youtube trailer

Jon Pertwee's first Dr Who story was shot on 16mm and that got a upscaled blu release. I'm guessing they'll do the same with this.
