Thinking of buying new speaker setup for surround system. Haven't chosen amp yet so not decided whether 5.1, 6 or 7.

Wife requirements - No more than 6 speakers inc. sub. Surrounds/Sats must be small (yeah I know this compromises bass etc), must be wood/veneer finish to match furniture (limits choice :thumbsdow ). Centre could be pretty much anything as will be inside antique cabinet that I took a saw to  ) Used almost exclusively for watching movies and TV - only occasional CD's. Room size is 14'x14'. Sub must be down firing but not size constrained as will be behind settee.

Was originally considering Canton CD1's direct from Germany but don't come in wood finish.

Now considering Radius R90's for surround/sats (£125 each in cherry from Sevenoaks), matching Radius centre, Sub BKXLS200, Rel Stampede or Quad L.

Will need to set bass cross over higher to compensate for smaller speakers.

Any thoughts on above? Will I really notice THAT much difference between XLS and Quad L, which is nearly 4 times as much?
