Hi,

I've recently been given a Td166 deck with a Stanton 500-11 cartridge and D5100AL-11 stylus, and am feeding into a Philips MCM7 Micro System (not exactly high-end, I know, but ok in my studio flat!!), which has only Aux phono input, so I need a suitable pre-amp. Any advice would be great as I am totally ignorant about matching levels - and I guess I should replace the stylus?

Regards,

Ken.

A quick search of Amazon-UK should turn up a very wide range.

If you really want a low cost solution, something like this would be workable -

It just depends on how far you want to take it.

There are several reviews on the Behringer PP400 on YouTube.

You can probably find reviews of the Project Phono Box MM on YouTube too.

Thanks Steve/blue wizard, that's a great help! Listened to the YouTube comparison 'twixt Project and Behringer and could detect no difference, so going for the Behringer. Really comprehensive post you've given me...thanks again.
