It was only a matter of time.....
I think this is great. I personally hope that they release a huge amount of these, along with Captain America and the Iron Man films, as it should be something everyone can enjoy (and stop people buying them all up to sell on for huge profit). Make the artwork different to the HMV/Play exclusives for the purists so they can have their super rare limited editions and that way everyone is happy.
I personally cannot wait for this, along with the other Marvel films.
Why should they release a huge amount? If you want huge amounts, go for the amaray. By their very nature, Steelbooks are limited editions and they should stay that way.
Oh dear oh dear they really are bleeding everyone dry!
I was considering cashing in on my Thor since i bought the Avengers box set so this may destroy the price a la Star Trek and means i keep mine
Also, why would they be 'super rare' if there is a 'huge amount' ?
Different artwork - not a problem. Anyone that invested before still has the original version.
The existing Play Iron Man 1 & 2 command a huge price still, along with the HMV version of Thor and Captain America. These are the super rare versions I was speaking of. Ok, super rare is not quite right, but you get what I mean.
I don't see why releasing a newer version of the steelbooks will reduce the value of the existing versions, if the design is different. How many versions of Iron Man are there across the world? Yet the Futureshop version is still worth hundreds.
The Hut exclusive lol
Star Trek was the start. Nothing is safe. Why would this be different artwork ?
The key could be what bundle they stick in the steelbook.
Could we see the Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy version on the steelbook ???
My point exactly. When I said huge amounts, I'm talking 6-8k copies.
If, on the flip side, they released 500 copies of each and I secured 10% of those and decided to sell them on for a 200-300% profit. There would be an outcry.
And why should companies produce these steelbooks, sell them at £20 a go then people buy them and sell them at £40 a go or whatever? It's the film companies who produce them, yet ebayers who are making money off of it. And why? Just because they managed to secure a huge amount and buy them up before the people who really want them get a chance.
Next zavvi / hut group release is john rambo uncut with a rub on tattoo I bet lol
Got to admit, I don't get all the uproar really....I have the Thor steelbook, i couldn't give a rats ass if this has the same artwork as my copy, hell I'd prefer it to have the same artwork because if its different and its better then i'll want this one instead.
I don't buy steelbooks to show off to other people, I buy them because i want the best version of the film available.
Seems kinda silly really to get all upset about something that will be worthless in a few years....enjoy them now, let other people who missed out enjoy them too.
Ouch! I bet its all happening over at HDN right now following this news...
The bubble has well and truly burst!!
The Hut/Zavvi, same thing.
Next up... Iron Man Futurshop
I have all the others just need Thor so I guess I'll pre-order this when it is available as not paying £150 on eBay for the HMV one
I suppose if they can match up their Thor with the design for the Thor 2 steelbook then okay. The original steelbook is a classic though. Even though mine has a slight ding
That's what the play.com version was originally going to be lol
Same as the Cap one if this is indeed different art then I'm in to go with my original HMV version
Will make a lovely display all paired up together
Happy about this and Cap. Roll on IM 1 + 2
Totally agree. Although I am happy about this for my own personal gain as I missed the HMV release.
I might try picking up an opened copy or even a slight ding copy . Not really worried about the sealed unsealed state of Thor.
