I was getting a poor picture with sky on my amstrad DRX300.
Did a comparison between the thompson and amstrad and found no noticable pq difference. Poor picture not down to box but the source.

I get an excellent pic & sound.

    Easy to navigate around.

You can re-order your favs tv guide (but not re-number).

Have to manually swicth off/on every couple of weeks as digital text seems to gor astray!

    Recommended.

    I have the Thomson box...

Good pic, good sound, very good on paper but...

Suffers from occasional lock-ups which require you to unplug/replug from the mains. Picture & sound breaks up occasionally, but this may be due to signal rather than box. Box sometimes doesn't respond to the remote (fault with box rather than remote since my programmed Marantz RC2000 MkII suffers the same problem with the box at the same time).

Have read numerous reports on this and the Digital Spy site, it seems the consensus is the Nokia 221t is better, but the Netgem Iplayer is the best box. Up to you, 80 quid buys you a cheap, good Thomson which is more than fine for the money. 130 quid buys you either the Nokia or the Netgem. Personally the faults of the Thomson annoy me enough that I would buy the Netgem if I was to buy another box tomorrow.
