Isn't it utterly ridiculous that ITV1 are showing Live tonight the dead-rubber game between Man Utd & Deportivo (both of whom have nothing to gain from the match and are playing reserve sides). And yet tomorrow night Newcastle are playing the biggest match in their recent history, and Arsenal are playing the game that will define their season, yet niether of these are being shown live!
It doesn't bother me so much because I have Sky, but for those reliant on terrestrial tv it must be infuriating!

No but i do. But i also completley agree with what is being said here, there was no point showing last nights match. But no doubt the matches that were to be shown were decided ages ago.

Would have liked to watch Newcastles game though

itv 1 cant show any matches on terrestrial on wed night as they dont have the rights to, wed evenings have to be shown on a subscription tv service , hence only available on cable or digital

Tue nights games are for terestrial coverage.

The same will apply next season when sky start to show games

Not a great night for British Football! :( :thumbsdow

Arsenal just lack any steel. They are superb when they are on top, but as soon as they are under pressure they fold.

I watched the first half of the Newcastle game on Granada plus.I could quite easily select "wide" to view the game in Widescreen,or at least fill the screen with the whole picture. When i turned over to itv 2 to watch the Arsenal game,no matter which ratio i selected(14:9,4:3,wide..etc..)I had vertical borders down each side of the picture,it was the same the night before (Man utd.) ,
Anyone else find this ?Why is it?.........bloody annoying!

its because they are not getting a widescreen feed and your digibox is set to output a 16/9 picture.

This normally happens when games are broadcast from spain and italy, where as if games a broadcast from the uk you get a widescreen picture and hence fills the screen and no vertical boarders. You can set you digibox to 4/3 and letterbox off if you want to watch the game with no vertical boarders

As chic says no football games outside england will be broadcast in widescreen.

The newcastle game was not in widescreen either - not sure why - maybe because Granada Plus did not have the technology?
Not sure why it was on Granada - maybe they wanted to keep the news channel free for war coverage.
