Ok so I have been looking for a 32" widescreen and I said I was going to go with the Panasonic PD50.

So last month I was looking at prices. £800 seemed fair.
    I have alook today.
    £600 WITH FREE DVD PLAYER!!!

what the hell... I mean ok DVD player is prob a pile of crap but...

    http://www.kelkoo.co.uk/sitesearch/...401uk334501-Panasonic-TX32PD50C/DVDS27EBS&orw
thats the cheapest I can find. I will get the one that has the better DVD player.

Anyone else found this at a gd price?

Yes, this has been mentioned several times on the Forum.

(In fact £549 has been reported.)

A search for "PD50" will reveal all!

Don't always go for the lowest price, some of these companies can make you go bald, they take your money but don't send the TV , Ive been through it with Electricalscentre . com of Wolverhampton. Took me 2 months to get my money back after contacting credit card company. Buy from companies recommended by the people who use this site.

    Hi

Youve missed the £549 price - it was only on offer for a couple of days the weekend before last - now gone up to £599.The DVD on offer isnt anything special - same model on offer for £39 at R Sounds.

I bought one from Unbeatable.co.uk and am dead chuffed with it - the website said out of stock when I ordered it on Sunday but it still arrived on the wednesday!

So far so good - no major gremlins apart from the awful users manual - which you would get wherever you bought it.

Dont look a gift horse in the mouth.....

£700 with a free Panny S97 DVD and next day delivery sound good? Try Pricerunner. Do a search on the Panny PD50, you'll see an outfit called 123electricals4me.co.uk in South Wales (it is the web outlet for a real shop). I bought a PD50 from them and they bundled an S97 and next day delivery for £699. Very nice man on the phone too! This is a fabulous combo! Connect with Marks' Component Video Cables off the forum and you're laughing... Gorgeous Progressive scan in PAL.

grrr, looks like on the site they stopped doing to free dvd player. This seriously sucks ass. Also they have 2 PD50's on there site. Ones called Panasonic TX32PD50-CAB and the other Panasonic TX32PD50. Im guessing the CAB one comes with a stand. Even if they are the same price.
I think I am just going to wait untill the TV goes for £600 again. It has to somewhen.

    Hi people

After lots of deliberation, ordered a PD50 yesterday! (Well, it was my 30th b'day and I deserved a treat!!). Sound & Vision did me a good deal at £627... Very chuffed with the price and I think I have a workaround for the 5 year JL thing... Home insurance includes AV equip guarantee...

Arriving this Fri so fingers crossed...

    Imi

p.s. STILL awaiting JL to get back to me with a price match.. They have taken thier sweet time and so unfortunately lost my biz...

p.s. Tob3z - JL = John Lewis.. Cheadle in my case...

p.p.s Apang - JL sent me an email to confirm that they now have it in stock.. but still awaiting a reply on the price match... Of course you are very welcome to take their offer! (here's hoping they come back with a yes...)

p.p.p.s Golfpunk - Spoke to a chap called Chris Evans at S&V and asked him to bear in mind that I am having a mid-life crisis... maybe this worked! ;)

Hey hey! Guess who's the proud owner of a spanking PD50?!

Arrived this arvo and the delivery chaps couldn't have been nicer... Called 20 mins before arriving to make sure that I was in, and then (for example) were very careful not to scrape the metal staples in the box on my shiny new floor! Checked for scratches on the TV etc and then they left me to play!

Just to clarify, this a frickin heavy telly for one person... ~60 kg... But I have poor impulse control with things like this... Put the stand together and then hoisted the TV on! (Be careful if you're going to do this... imagine my post if I had slipped and was reporting that I'd broken my set before even plugging it in!)

First impressions V V bad... No sound from TV using (new) Sony digi box, picture looked pretty miserable...

And then I banged my head against a wall, reversed the scart cable and adjusted the picture... Bingo!

AMAZING picture... black is actually black... And man I need to buy some good cables... Quality is so different between freeview-TV and freeview-DVD recorder-TV because I'm using 2 different brands (cheapies) of scart cable!

Used a crappy component cable to check prog scan from DVD to TV... quality is terrible... So looking forward to testing some good cabling...

    But enough about the cabling!

4 scart sockets + comp in + audio out, Picture = Fab, sound = excellent (12 x 14 room, speakers need running in?), remote and set up = like having a leak!

I'm hoping my enthusiasm will settle down in the next few days as I become obsessed by finding the perfect (personal taste) picture... Wife already bored by my anorak-tendency to quote the spec...

    Happy to answer any questions...

    Imi

p.s. Sad git that I am, here are some pics of the TV...

Wow that looks ace Imi.

What store did you order it from?

Also, is the sound very bassy? I read it has a built in subwoofer but I don't want too much bass if I can help it.

    Thanks for the compliment BM!

Ordered it online from Sound & Vision (Bolton) last Tuesday and it arrived exactly 3 days later... Price was £627 (inc delivery and VAT etc)...

As for the sound, you can change the treble, bass and subwoofer settings in the audio section... I guess it's about finding what you like, unless you're lucky enough to have a dedicated AV amp!

    Hope this helps!

Now it's time to get THE seperates HiFi to replace that archaic Aiwa... But that's a whole different thread!

Imi, glad to hear its a positive given some of the bad press for S&V (and the PD50) although I have to say that they have kept me well informed on times. Mine is def coming on Tues AM and I cannot wait  . Just deciding on my component leads now but as I have a 5m run to my rack, its gonna be pricey.

Damn, that TV looks good

It is available from www.digital-point.co.uk for £625 inc delivery.

I don't know how reputable a company they are??

I have ordered one from S&V last week. When I told the salesman I lived in Inverness he couldn't give me an estimated delivery date as I am apparently as far North as you can go (not true - and I have had next day delivery from firms in London several times) but they took their money out of my account immediately :thumbsdow

I just hope I get it in the next couple of weeks and it is working OK, the last time I ordered a TV online I had to send back 3 and lifting them in and out of the boxes damn near killed me

    Good Luck

    Gordon
