    Hi,

Quick note! Season 5, Episode 1 of "Third Watch" starts in about 20 minutes, on Channel 4! And watch out, for the late night episodes of the series on Thursday and Friday night this week too. (Episodes 5 and 7 respectively!)

Just watched the first ep. of S.5 and it was as excellent as ever. Have they really started to shoot widescreen or did channel 4 c**k it up? I seem to remember it happening once before. If they have, you would have thought they'd have re-done the titles as they were clearly cropped, and that makes me suspicious.
    Chris.

    Hi Chris,

As far as I know, Season 5 was shot in 1.78:1 widescreen (or in the US, it's known as "Hi-Def TV").

Yes, the title sequence does look cropped, and that's because it has simply been reframed from the original 4:3 version. In other words, the show's producers didn't want to bother recreating another set of credits, just to fit the 1.78:1 ratio, when they could simply lop-off the top and bottom of the original version.

A couple of episodes in Season 3 were shot (and shown) in widescreen, as well. That's because those two episodes, were a cross-over with "ER", which - as you probably know - has been shot in widescreen for a few years now. That's why. (It was the episodes from Season 3, Episode 19 of "Third Watch" called "Unleashed", and Season 8, Episode 19 of "ER" called "Brothers And Sisters".)

If ever there was a TV show that was crying out for a DVD release this would be it.

I think us TW fans should start bombarding the relevent studio with emails stating that a DVD release would be greatly welcomed.

Now that's the way to end the season using a cliff hanger:)
If you haven't seen it yet then do so, you won't be dissapointed unless of course you rely on CH4 and they haven't bought season 6.

slightly off-topic, but i'm hoping i dont miss the start of the new NYPD Blue series on C4 - whenever they decide to screen it. Its almost like they go out their way to hide these programs.

btw - hoping the next will be in 'wide' too.

    Hi,

I hope everyone's been enjoying Seasons 4 and 5 of "Third Watch"! Last night's concluding Season 5 finale episode, was awesome! I was also quite shocked, that the penultimate episode (shown on Monday lunchtime) was allowed to be shown uncut. It was quite graphic, with the shots of the body in the garbage, and the amount of the word "bitch" that were used!

Bet C4 get a b*ll*ck*ng for that one!

Oh, and I hope Doc comes back, and that the rather sultry siren/newbie paramedic Grace! She's yummy! :)

I know C4 do have the rights to Season 6, but as it's still airing in the USA, don't expect C4 to air it before Summer 2005!

And, I've still got no news about NYPD Blue's return. It's likely to be February 2005, though, in my opinion.

    Hi Duncan,

Sky dropped "Third Watch" after just the first series. It hasn't ever been repeated, as far as I know, nor is it likely to be.

Sarah, I'm sure I've still got this on tape. I'll check over the weekend and if so I'll post back here over the weekend and if you send me a pm with your address I'll post it first thing Monday morning OK.

Actually I think I've got the last 2 episodes back to back.

Oh welcome to the forum by the way.
