Thinking of upgrading Sky+ box to Sky+HD box ??

Hi all,

Am sure this has been asked previously (apologies).

I have a 37" 1080p lcd tv, it has 2x HDMI, 2x scart and component inputs aswell..

At present I have my Sky+ box attached to it via scart, and my PS3 via HDMI.

PS3 looks amazing - full 1080p resolution, beautiful.

Output of Sky+ box looks somewhat pixelated, as such I was thinking of buying a Sky+HD box from someone on eBay or maybe Sky even.

My question is this - compared to the output of the standard definition channels on my standard Sky+ box, will the output of standard definition channels on Sky+HD box via HDMI be considerably better ??, i know high definition channels on Sky+HD via HDMI will be amazing.

Cheers, Vaughn.

Depends how good your TV is at upscaling SD pictures itself. From your description of the pixellation, not that good by the sound of things.

In answer to your question - many people find the upscaled SD images through the HDMI output being set to something other than Automatic great. Others say that the Sky HD box does not output as good an SD picture as a Sky+ or standard Sky box via scart. Horses for courses really.
