    Hi all,

I'm new to this AV stuff and was thinking of buying the Onkyo 505, but could do with knowing whether a device connected to one of the component inputs (say DVD player), can be pushed through the HDMI out port to the television?

Would like to just have a single HDMI cable running to the TV.

    :hiya:

The 505 doesn't do signal conversion, you'd need the 605 for that.

You can read all the manuals for these products on the web site at www.onyko.co.uk

You might want to consider the Sony STR-DG910 - It's similar in price to the 505, but can output from several sources over one hdmi cable. I'm using it with a PS3 and virgin cable box.

Would the Pioneer VSX-917V be a good alternative to the Onkyo 505 as I cant afford the 605?
