hi all, just moved from a tivo to sky+ mainly for the dual recording function. Had it since friday and upgraded to a 120gb maxtor straight away as 40gb is way too small, seems ok so far but im really missing a few things i had on the tivo.

    1. Searching for programs is crap on sky+ only looks 2 days ahead on the a-z
    2. Epg is only 7 days , if i go away for 2 weeks i cant see whats on before i go and set it to record.
    3. If I go into the epg whilst watching a program it loses all of the instant rewind buffer upon resuming viewing, why?.
    4. wish lists, absolutely vital so i know when new a new season starts of my fav program.

Anyone know if their any plans to incorporate the above features into sky+, maybe the wishlist function is a bit optimistic but i cant see why the other issues cant be easily fixed.

What features would you like to see added or modified on sky+.

Agreed searching is crap, apart from being for a longer period you should be able to select "strings" rather than a sigle character.

You lose instant rewind when going to the EPG because that requires another channel. True they could use the other tuner but that wouldn't work if you were recording so I presume they decided to be consistant with its behaviour.

Agree with all the above - I'd like to add:-
    1) a button to go to last channel watched so that you can flick between 2 channels easily.
    2) 60x fast forward and rewind
    3) when you view the program information banner you should be able to get information about any program on any channel without having to go into the program guide and thus lose the picture and sound.
    4) a more usable teletext. I think it's so slow and unusable at the moment and most of the time flick back to terestrial TV to use the old teletext.

I agree with the above. Adding, when you press play after 30-60x rewind/fastforward, it should jump back a step so that you can catch the start of the program and not then seek at 2x to get back to where you want to be. They do this on Tivo.

I would also like it to ask "Are you sure" when the yellow delete key is pressed. This key is next to the blue keep key and it's easy to press the wrong one and delete something you didn't want to. This could be a setting that the user choses to have on or off.

and they expect an extra £10 per month on a standard sub for this?

I started a thread asking, what do sky do for the extra £10?

I never got this much negative feedback on Sky + there...

Yes, you've made your point, mate, several times. It's your choice whether you have Sky or not.

I don't see the suggestions above as negative feedback, it's more like a wishlist of what we'd like to see.

I'd really really really really like to see a setup option to make the text in the planner smaller!!! Seem weird?! My reasoning is that I on hi def displays you'd still be able to read it, but you'd get more of the programme title in. I sometimes find it hard for my brain to figure out what the programme is from the truncated title... Maybe too much TV has damaged it!! :D

Yep, thats my main gripe with the epg, its like huge mode on teletext, surely the text doesnt need to be that big, the tivo guide text is much smaller and can be read quite easily. Going back to the problem of losing the rewind buffer, could sky overlay the epg as tivo does or is this a limitation of the hardware.
