I bought the Rory Gallagher Rockpalast DVD from amazon.de - it's absolutely fantastic. If you like TL there's a fair chance you would like RG.

I had a look at the reviews of the TL DVD on amazon.de and they appeared to be mixed.

I bought a RG double CD the other year. One of the disks is live performances and it's superb. Does the DVD have Brute Force and Ignorance on ?

Nope - it's earlier stuff from around 73/74. Still well worth getting.

I used to really dig RG, one of the best rock/blues guitarists of his time.Shame he had to die so young, if he had still been around would have been up there with the likes of Clapton,Page etc.

Whats the sound and picture quality like on the dvd.

Picture quality is as good as can be expected from a mid-70's TV broadcast. Not as good as the Led Zep DVD but still more than acceptable.

Sound is in stereo or 5.1 - the stereo sounds best to me. Overall sound quality is good. The first four or five songs are acoustic - all excellent especially 'Out On The Western Plain'. At the start of the first band song ('Take What I Want'), the vocals are very high in the mix (no fault of the DVD soundtrack) - other than that, it's again more than acceptable. If you're an RG fan at all - you'll love it.

P.S. Saw Clapton in Belfast last Saturday night. Excellent gig indeed. Fantastic band with the always entertaining Billy Preston on keys.
