    Guys (and Girlls ???)
Can you please point me in the right direction ?
I took the plunge last month and bought a Philips 32PF9986 from BE Direct.
Great set,but have the problems mentioned elsewhere. My second one is going back and I am going off the idea of getting a third.
I have a budget of about £2.5 but could stretch a tad higher.I have been reading all the posts in ths fine forum.
I am now thinking of getting a plasma, but have never had one.
Someone advised me not to order one over the internet as you can get screen damage (missing pixels etc) iintransit (I live in Channel Islands,so it has to come by boat).
But prices are much cheaper online (deducting VAT or course) than locally.
Not all internet companies deal with us here,BE Direct being one that does, and they do have good customer service.
If I do go for one,is there anything better at the mo than the Panasonic TH37PE30 ?

    Any info greatfully digested.
    Thanks

    I've had the 42 pe30 for a week now & I'm well chuffed.
I got the 42 for @£2600 pricematched so the 37 should be weel under your budget.
the tv looks well & performs superbly especially with the component connection with a DMR e85 recorder.
some places are doing a deal on the e85 if you by it with a plasma.

find a richer sounds that has one in & get john lewis to price match it,
then If you want they will sell the E85 for £299 & you get 5yrs warranty on both.

    snapper.

    Ta for that.
I'm over in Guernsey so have to use internet retailers to get a good deal.
Will most likely stick with BE Direct.
Looks like I'll plump for the TH37PE30 to replace the Philips 9986 dog.
    Thanks again.

Not sure about Freeview over here.

Anyway, have just rung the veyr heplful lady at BE Direct. She is going to replace my Philpis 32PF99886 with the Pan TH37PE30.And get this :

BE Direct are currently doing a deal that chucks in the DMRE55 DVD Recorder for just £20 extra !!!This DVD Recorder retails for £219 HERE on their website !
I reckon it must be a mistake, but she has confirmed the price and said that they will honour it.
I know that this is not the top of the range DVD Recorder, but at £20,who cares !!
    See HERE for details.

They are also doing a deal with the TH42PE30,though the DMRE55 player is £30 more !!

I don't know about freeview either, but that's the TV tuner in the pe30, and you won't get TV on this screen if there's no coverage. stick your postcode in the reception checker at freeview.co.uk and see. Nothing wrong with the DMRe55, raw sex for £20 IMHO

    MAW,

    Thanks but apparently not true.
I've just spoken to my local dealer and he says that it works in the normal fashion as well.
    Freeview is not a prerequisite.

Now I check, you are absolutely correct. The analogue picture will be nothing to write home about, it never is on plasmas. Freeview is ideal, I suppose they'll do it one day.
