Gold plated , so they are not bog standard.
Can't comment on how they would perform , but yes should be better than standard.

I can get the Ixos XHV704 for £24, or should i think about more expensive ones?

More expensive does not always equal better but well made ones do!

I would drop Mark an email and get a price from him to see if they are in/out of budget.

These are gold plated

TBH Belkin aren't renound for top quality goods.
Those van damme look decent.
I use monster cable components myself , whilst i don't agree with "dearer , the better" , i find them excellent.
Those van damme look just as good
