There's a heron on the roof! In Acton!!

    I spotted this chap the other day, but by the time I got the camera, unpacked the Sigma 120-300 from its case, took off the 18-200VR and replaced it with the 2x TC and then fitted the 120-300 he was in Birmingham :(

    Today I was more prepared and he was quite happy to take his time.

    1) With the Nikon 18-200VR

    Nice shots there John - I like number 3, good framing choice. Great flight shots too, love the splayed feathers in 5.

    #3 is a great shot. Nice composition, but it's the unkempt, knock kneed, dirty mac brigade appearance of him that makes it. Hilariously good photo.:thumbsup:

    Great in flight shots there.:thumbsup:I have been trying for ages to get the local heron here in flight,but whenever i see him he just sits there.:thumbsdow

    :DThanks for all the great replies. I must admit to being dead chuffed with these shots, because they are a bit out of the ordinary :)

    I was thinking more of an old school master, but then thinking about some of my old school masters - your comment is spot on!

    That's Acton for you - 360 days of sun, every decade :thumbsup:

    LOL - They are a weird bird, like them all, but especially like #4 & 5, you can almost see the effort of takeoff in its expression.
