I have been noticing this a lot recently, take last night for instance and one game in particular i ended up with i think 20 kills and 3 deaths  Now at best I'm a mediocre player and last night i had had a lot to drink (not as much as Wolfie though)

There is something not right ,it's almost as if it gives us turns at being good ,(yes i know that sounds daft )

    :)

Could be that the host advantage was more helpful then normal (massively more normal in this case) or its just the fact the game is rubbish and broken.

Signs, It is not a coincidence, you really are poo. I am only 400M from my exchange but I'm much better than you even if using dial up!!!

Host advantage my backside! If that is the case then Mossym was sat in my front room as he got the drop on me on all face to face confrontations!!!

Disclaimer: This is not meant to be a serious post (except where Sign's skill level is mentioned...)

The connection thing is crap, sometimes things just go for you. I think in WaW, luck has a lot more to do with it.. much moreso than it did with CoD4.

Just like sometimes no matter what you do, you cant get a kill... it stands to reason sometimes everytime you fire your gun you get a kill. It happens.

I agree signs. I don't know what it's about. I played two games in a row on the same map with the same teams last night, and went 23-5 in one of them, and the other was something like 7-15. I don't know if the host advantage is just more pronounced or what.

I think I had host advantage on Friday......I think I played COD on Friday....

The advantage is randomn IMO and used to happen on MW1 too. Its always narked me that once in a blue moon you get a 'good day'. You seem to be able to get lag even with 4 green bars!
Like someone said though - last week it was as though Mossy was sat at Xbox HQ with a direct gold plated line right into COD Server Number 1. (add that to the fact he's really good and it was hardly worth playing):(

just saw this thread...and think it is pretty indicative that my name was the one used...

now, before is start taking bows for my noob owning skills.. and you give me grief again for taking the game too seriously, let me clarify

    1) you have to remember i am in ireland, the rest of you except for my northern friends mr harvey and mr duke(we should make a reservior of dogs team guys(mr mossy, mr harvey, mr duke) are all in the uk. i am fully convinced lag can work in reverse as well. if you're not the host, then the info that you have started shooting has to make it to my box as well, that delay could be working in my favour and i get the drop.

    2) i am convinced signs is right, i've played for almost 8 days on this game now, and i am convinced that at times it limits you or gives you a bonus. I'll have been playing well for a while. and next thing i can't kill anything. After a while you get a feeling for when someone should die, you know how long you should be firing before they die. When you are in of these down patches we'll call them, you know you put enough bullets in the guy but he is still ticking. and it happens repeatedly, you just cna't seem to kill anyone. it's not lag, cause that is more obvious, but something is up. At other times, you're unstoppable.

it is very rare i am host(althought since my broadband was increaed by a factor of 5 last week it's happened more often), so it's not host advantage...just something is definitely up..

Host advantage is the single biggest contributing factor IMO to winning or playing well.

Best way to become host is to stay in the same lobby. I can almost guarentee that within 5 or 6 games you will be given the host badge by default. When I used to do marathon days on COD when ranking up I often used this tactic and once you were host unless the quality was appauling you remained the host until you left :)

On Co-Op Private games and Zombies I am always the host ;)

Totally agree with your first point Mossy, when ever I've been in a full AVF lobby you are always the most difficult to take down!

You just need to get the leprechaun running on the treadmill that's connected to the generator that powers your 28.8k dial-up to run a biteen faster. :D

go way ya wannabe scot...that's it, your passports just been cancelled...call your self irish no more...change thy name from kavan to tartan and go back to doing your jigs in the wasteland

and on a serious note...anyone that plays with me regularily knows that when lag does hit i get it worse than you guys, when you have 2 yellows i have 1 red..
don't forget, you guys are looking for the best host for you in the UK, which should be a good host for most of you..means nothing for me...if i hosted and searched for best host ye'd all be playing with kavan;s friends in galway as hosts and they are a rough ugly crowd up there...the kind that lick their lips when they hear dogs coming right at us..and you don't want to see them trying to plant a betty...

I know much has been commented about your original message but I have only just come across it.
I had a similar experience the other week. I joined a game mid way through, managed to rack up 13 kills with 1 death, next game similar results. In fact the whole evening was pretty much a perfect evening of COD.
However when the Map pack 2 came out I got slaughtered most the time and was not a pleasant experience. I don't mind losing but either it was lag, though the ping was 3/4 green bars. Or there were simply alot of good players out there.

we all know yur good mate (arguably the best IMO) but when it's combined with that Irish voodoo then I know I may as well hang up me Jack Boots for the night.:D

I had that game a couple of weeks ago on Asylum where i whooped everyone including Gamin & got 30 kills - you can't tell me that was skill.

I'm finding I win more TDMs when I play randomns then when I play AVF. Always playing Mossy, Gamin and Bourner is doing nothing for my COD esteem!!:(:( Now that Chris has joined in too I find I'm slippin' down that scoreboard ever closer and closer to Signs & Gashead:(;):D

Just can't seem to get on with COD at the moment. It's like every time I shoot someone it takes an age for them to die and every time I get shot I die instanly - sometimes without even hearing any shooting. Not sure if it's just me or the game or something else but I play for about 10 minutes before getting bored and doing something else.

It really is bizarre. I've had a few nights like this, and then on Saturday night I was near-invincible - scores like 24-5 in TDM. No consistency to it at all.
