If this has a decent throw i.e short/medium then this could well be my next upgrade, seems a cracking spec'd machine

What does 100% offset vertical lens shift mean? Project with the top of the screen lower than the centre of the lens (ceiling mounted)?

Does sound like a great pj

So the throw distance is from 1m to 10m with a .5m diagonal image to 7.2 image, 16:1 - 2.16:1 throw ratio.

    HI all
This could be my first dlp projector (If it has no rainbow effect). As i have seen many dlp projectors before thay all have it some worse than others.

But i have read the spec of the h77 and it has a new 8 colour wheel instead of a 6 will this fix the rainbow effect do you think ???? I hope so

i have had my sony hs 10 to long now hehehe.

also the h77 has a 5 speed wheel is this the fastest, why 5 speed is it the faster the better ????

This really does look good, the throw is just on the border of being okay for me depending on where the vents are. does anybody know if it vents from the side like the Z2?

Wow, the new projectors with HD2+ chipsets seem to be fast heading down - pricewise.

    Screenplay 7205 now this.

Can anyone tell me what any possible benefits of the 7205 over the H77 migh be (eg why the extra 1500 quid)?

WOW WOW WOW it just gets better, not only does this look like it's going to be THE projector to own, but I think we cocked up a little as the price of the H77 os actually £3495 inc VAT

............. That's quite a statement ! Have you seen this in operation or can you point us to an independent review......

    From Optoma's US Press Release:

Will this be the case in the UK or European market ?

    More questions:

    Is the warranty Europe-wide?
Does the DVI input support 720p/50?
    What is the availability date?

the infocus 7205 is just brighter and so is better in ambient light.

The H77 will need total darkness after calibration, and yes it still suffers the rainbow effect.

I think though the H77 has like a turbo mode, which boosts light output to 1100 ANSI but contrast drops to like around 2000:1 in that mode

But what a corking price. just depends if the scaler and de-interlacers are up to the task. the big plus is that it is supposed to be very very quiet.

And i cant praise the service of audiovisiononline enough.
not to mention there great prices.

Shame the H77 wasnt out a few mths ago i could of been tempted

As far as Im aware Optoma UK have a 3 year HotSwap warranty on their consumer products..meaning we (for once) are better looked after than our US counterparts.

    Hello all

I've just confirmed with Optoma UK that our demo H77 will , like all the units we will supply, include a Zero Dead Pixel Policy PLUS the 3 Year Hot Swap warranty.

    Best regards

    Joe

Optoma are aiming for a 1st September ship date but considering they only got their pre-production model yesterday (or could still be waiting for it to clear customs) I am mighty sceptical of this date.

If the H77 is as good as the Mitsubishi HC2000 I demo'd on Monday then it will be a mighty fine pj.

"It throws a 100" diagonal 16:9 format image from a distance range of about 11.25 to 15.5 feet".

Looks interesting. Might be suitable replacement for my stalwart HS10

This pj does seem excellent for my needs, but reading between the lines it looks like pjcentral recommend external scaler and benq 8700+ for playing dvds.

tom/guitarman who in a thread on avs said the scaler are top notch and on par with farodija. I will get my hands on one tomorrow, so time will see what this baby can do. we will primary test it against projection design action one mkII, since we have already tested the mkII against infocus 7205 and benq 8700+ and the mkII was in a league of it's own, it will be the one to compare against. can't wait;-)
