Im new to projectors, and am looking to buy b4 Xmas

my 2 local shops, recommend the Z1 & the H56

Ive seen both, and think the H56 is very cinamatic(rainbowfree), the Z1 is a good picture but the screen door effect niggles me.

I havnt seen many posts about the H56, i thought as its dropped £1300 (street price, ie audio visuals £2174.("ed my bad")) it would be a winner

has anyone else bought one of these, or is there another PJ i should seen first.

    PS
Ill be connecting upto a Marantz 4100DVDplayer and sky+, with audio from a Home theate in a box (celestion) maybe an AV amp later

£3500 originally the dropped £1000 to £2500 special offer £2174 inc vat and Del. So where does £1800 come from???? Also Z2 is out this month so that will really put pressure on the H56 (a factor in the H56 drop IMO)

opps the £1800 was a price drop, but my maths was real bad(long day), ive edited my post to £1300 ie the special offer

I was told by both local shops the the price cut was coming, but the H56 was still good value at £3500, compared to "others"(not that i could afford it then)

I could be temped to wait a few weeks to view the z2, i wouldnt preorder thou, seams silly to buy on spec??? is there a release date yet, ive not seen one in the other posts.

but going back to the topic, the H56 is such a smooth film like picture, i cant help lusting over it, even thou i could probably get an AV amp and new speakers with the change from the z1

Dont forget the Half price screen, which saves £300-£400
buy the way are they back in stock now?

I probably would have ordered one by now but, I would be able to watch it until I get my new floor & cables sorted.

    I might c if i can demo a Z2 b4 now.

BTW dont you just love dissapearing posts:rolleyes:

And the winner is the H56

As voted by my credit card today

I didnt get to see the Z2, but VB and LCD pixal failures put me off, and I was totally happy with the H56's PQ

I decided to buy it locally due to problems with a previous order
And I recon Im unlucky with Mail order, if theres a duff-en in production line ill find it......:suicide:

So now im just waiting for my screen, and copy of TTT. and all the other films ive been saving to christen my First PJ with.
    Xmas movie Heaven :D

Thanks to all for helping me decide

I understand the new H30 will be available from Sevenoaks in about 3 weeks time. They tell me its a great pj with no rainbow?
And for £1300 maybe worth the wait.

H30 looks very good value but does it have SVGA or XGA resolution? I would have thought at that price it would be SVGA.

This projecter was mention by 3 shops as "their" prefered option to the sub £1500 LCD's
Think he said it was simalar to the H56, but without the pro-scan

So i recon it should be worth a look

For me (not very experianced in these matters) LCD had too much against it, Dead pixals/Screen door and reported VB(not seen this for myself)

The DLP just seamed to work

When looking at the Z1 I was thinking good picture, But with the H56 i was drawn into the film.....

I think you just have to see them and make your own mind up

From Projector Central: 800x600 panel and 32db noise. Ouch.

And it should be 1,400 dollars. Paying over the odds in blighty it would appear (as usual).

I also have a H56 which i have bought to tie me over till the new marantz is out, and i must say its a stunning machine at the price the pic is much better than the z1 by far(seen side by side) and destroys the panasonic ae300. excellent de interlacing.
very good black level close to the nec ht1000 in fact the ht1000 is only slightly better.

The h56`s only downsides are its a little noisy not terrible but not the best.
Also a slight tendacy band solid reds.
and its 4;3 although light spill isnt that bad on 16:9 mode.
other than that awsome for the price. better pic than the hs20 as well.

many peeps would do well to demo this machine.
the pic still suprises me now and again.
this was bought from audiovisiononline and there service was fantastic. thankyou guys. i will be buying my marantz from you as well

The ThemeScene H30 uses an 800x600 DDR chip but its active resolution is 800x450, we have turned the other pixels off. The image is then shifted, to utilise the bottom, left & right of the chip, that way you will not get any light overspill at the bottom of the screen (3 clean edges).

So far I have used the H30 in eco mode (30db) and been very happy with it. Not only is it very quite in eco mode but there is a subtle improvement in the black levels.

As well as having Scart RGB, a 6-segment/4-speed colour wheel, it’s also DLP at only £1395, hey one day we might have HD2 (HD2.5/HD3) at this price or less!

Nearly forgot, I keep getting asked the main difference between the H30 & H56. H30 - 800x450, PixelWorks scaling chip - H56 1024x768, optional masking lens adaptor, Silicon Images scaling chip and in looks, their are completely different.

    Regards
    Stuart
