check out the theatertek website forum for the latest announcement
Damn. I'm away this weekend so will have to wait until Monday evening to get it.
(Thanks Mr D - great spot)
Sooooo ... "in a few weeks" in June ended up meaning "in 4 months" .. glad to see Andrew is conforming to the PC industry's standard release schedules.
I've really enjoyed using Theatertek, only FFDShow has ever caused any problems and requires some time to get working properly.
I'm just hoping the new version doesn't mean I'm tempted changing my 9800 pro to an Nvidia card
If you are tempted i know someone who may buy it
Tom, you never stop! I thought I was bad!
Don't be silly, of course you will.
Seems to me from the thread on AVS and comments made by Andrew a 6600GT will make a noticeable difference .. and it's way better for gaming too.
I know it will The problem is my resources are wiped out having completed the garage. The missus will go nuts if I spend anymore . Isn't the 6600GT PCIe only as well?
Supposedly an AGP version will be out "about a month after the PCI-e" is what I've seen quoted in several places.
Er, tell me .. how's she who must be obeyed going to KNOW you've changed something INSIDE the PC?
Depends who looks after the bank statements
Good news about TT 2.0.
Now with regard to the nvidia issue, I guess its going to be a bit of a necessary upgrade but the 6600 doesn't do the res I need for my HS10 over dvi or does it? nvidia were supposed to be fixing the drivers.....
If you're referring to the EDID problem, I've seen in said in the AVS thread that nVidia have fixed it but as yet the driver update hasn't happened. Whether it's 'necessary' depends on one's willpower.
I'm hoping to now be able to ditch VLC for .TS playback and lose its' stuttering.
Yeah thats it, the EDID problem, its difficult to keep up with the threads at AVS but as I understand it (and feal free to correct me if i'm wrong) the dual dvi nvidia card is ok but the other cards dont have the drivers support yet but its supposed to be coming.
That's the situation as far as I can fathom it .. you're right, it's kind of hard keeping up with that thread in particular, not to mention also reading TT's forum as well.
Check the postings as the bottom of this page in AVS' 6800 thread, that's where I got my information from, Vern is obviously well versed with the art of driver tweaking.
Seems to me the wait for the AGP can only be good, later in the thread someone (Vlad I think, the ffdshow guru) listed 6 or more driver versions all of which exhibited some problem or other.
Cheers Robin for taking the time to dig that up, same as I thought then pretty much.
Not this weekend then?
Just wondering how many hits the TT site got this weekend? I was responsible for a few...
Strange isn't it.... We've lived without it for so long, a few more days'll make no real difference in the scheme of things and we'll no doubt be jumping back into bug-fix hell, but we all want to be there on day one.
Sensible people would wait a few weeks for the initial responses from the early adopters...If only I were sensible!
Am sure as soon as it is out we'll know, just gotta order a panny AE700 a DVD-I to HDMI lead, then just a 6600gt AGP version, 7 inch touchscreen monitor, the new SVS coffin sub, four more 250gb h/d's, raid card, new power supply, a pair of blue sky 6.5's for the rear and a week with no sleep and i'll be there.
Oh and move the server under the stairs and build a new HTPC.
OH Oh then get my SKY + sdi modded and get a SDI capture card as well.
OH OH Oh buy a car and book a holiday.
Well given Andrew said "in a few weeks" back in June, clearly his ability to work to any sort of schedule or plan is 'challenged'.
Well may be a coincidence, but the sales side of TT website is now blank!!!!
Either they've gone bust or they are altering it.......
Now the forum is down
I gotta get a life
Ok its a go!!!!!!!!!
As I can't possibly play with TT2.0 until Thursday evening at the earliest, I'm going to let you lot beta test it for me to see if its any good
Looks very good, great with DVD's, .ts files play but there seems to be a problems with their playback in that they get randomly zoomed and distorted.
Edit - sorted! .Ts files now playing perfectly!
From TT Forum TT2 Bug Thread (Yes already!) "For transport stream playback I suggest making sure DXVA is ON and VPP is enabled as well."
Don't know if that'll cure it for you, I won't get a chance to look at TT2 until tomorrow.
having a look now - let you know
The trick is to set Hi-Def to VMR in the configuration screen, now playing perfectly although still got at least one .ts sample that just won't play.
Is there any detailed feedback yet on DVD picture quality?
The TT forum seems to be full of people questioning stuff, and not much in the way of comment on picture improvements over 1.5. Has anybody used FFDShow successfully yet as well?
Not checked out PQ yet but I can say I don't like the new on screen graphics. Makes the thing look cheap compared to the old style. Reminds me of my Yamakawa player. Wonder if it has the option to change them?
Anyone using a display with a resolution less than 1024x768 (AE100, X1, 4800/5, HT1000/1100 owners included) should read the following thread before taking the plunge with TT2.0
Just make sure you are aware of this issue before parting with your cash.
