Series 2 arrived on Saturday morning and I've just watched the episode called "Cash". My question is - where the hell has the scene when they're walking to the army recruitment office gone?
The whole bit with Jools Holland singing that Bob Dylan song has vanished. What a let down, maybe it's not a great scene but it is a memorable part of the episode.

I'm sure there's a reason, but it really naffs me off when something you've grown up with gets changed/edited when its released. Please leave them alone!

Someone out there is to blame - who is it?

Actually, does anyone know if the same scene is missing from the Region 1 release (I've just got the region 2)?

Can't think why the Army recruitment bit is missing.

As for the song, it could be a rights issue.

    rich1978,
Are talking about the scene when neil goes to the police recruitment office and alexi sayle is dress up as mussolini?
He tells Neil all you need to do to be a policeman is to hiss into the walkie talkie?
Shame if thats gone, but maybe in these politically correct times having a facist copper, is not the done thing? not my view though :)

Well, I guess I'll give this one a miss then.

Shame we'll never see some of the best shows/movies as they were originally made.

(still ****** about the Flying Circus "gangrene" replacement)

The police station / mussolini bit is still in. Its just the walk into town that's missing. I just watched "Nasty" last night, and noticed that really odd bit was missing.

Neil is in the bath and Rick turns off the bathroom light (leaving Neil in the dark). Neil is then suppposed to start playing his guitar and sings a line from a song - it only lasts 5 or 10 seconds but that's gone too. Spoilsports with their song rights.

I wonder how much the rights would've actually cost the BBC.

    Just to confirm:

Having looked at the back of the packaging of 'The Young Ones series2', it states:

"For contractual reasons certain music edits have been made"

That replacement was in the original broadcast. The Beeb objected to the word "cancer" and the Pythons were angry at having to censor it which is why they made it obvious the word was replaced. So at least it wasn't re-edited for video.

You can see the sketch in all it's uncut glory though on the "And Now For Something Completely Different" movie, just released on DVD.

Can someone help with a question about the Young Ones episode when they had the party. Rik came out with "OK pop music let's go. Anyone like the Human League" and then he put on a snippet of Human League before the police came in and smashed things up. What was the track that he put on ? I've tried to make it out on my old VCR copy and can only hear about 2 seconds of music.
Please help it's doing my head in !!

Ah. I could have swore that I had seen the original line in an ep of Flying Circus, but it must have been ANFSCD.
