The Wedding Date is a low budget entry into the romantic film genre and as such it lacks the gloss and pizzazz of some of the more high profile movies of its type. Relying on the charm of its lead actors, Debra Messing goes a long way to papering over the film’s flaws, and those of her colleague Dermot Mulroney – who sleep walks through the proceedings.

For an undemanding romantic night on the sofa this may just about pass muster but there are really far better examples of the genre out there. Factor in the truly terrible transfer, and the average sound mix and extras package, this is probably one that can be passed by on HD. The SD version may be a better value purchase for fans of the film.
