Help, how can I pass the time until the new TV arrives?

I have a Sagem HD-D45 arriving on the 4th, that means a whole weekend of agonising anticipation! ugh!

I sold my 42" Toshie rear pro last week, and so have been without a big screen for that amount of time already, and have had to put up with a 28" screen in the mean time.

It's difficult, I have just bought House Of Flying Daggers too, and sooooo want to watch it, but am trying to resist until the new TV arrives.

HELP, it's driving me up the wall!!!!

But think of the rush when you see the van pull up out side the door. :)

Out of interest, why did you replace your Toshiba?

The Toshiba in question was a CRT reaar projection model, the 42WH36P, lovely TV, but it was time to move to a set with HD capability.

I looked at the Toshie DLP rear pro sets but they were blurry as heck!! Pity, I like the Toshie brand and wanted to stick with it, alas the picture quality in the demos was just awful.

The Samsung and Sagem TV's ate them for brekkie, I went for the Sagem over the Sammy due to the stand, the Samsung stand is lurrrvly, but it would expose too many wires and other gubbings behind it, and I already have a stand that would be perfect for the Sagem, also, where would I put my centre speaker with the Sammy

The Sagem and Samsung currently rule, the picture quality on these sets is phenomenal!! I only saw the rainbow effect on all three sets if I was doing some funky sharp head movements, so that DLP artifact doesn't bother me, who the heck watches movies shaking their head violently anyway? :D

I just can't wait, the days are moving sooooo slowly :(

Naaah, Luton is fine as long as one doesn't live in a dodgy area.

My area is fine, lots of neighbourhood watch, not much rabble if any, and I have those sentry guns from Aliens guarding my place too :D

don't worry kaz the weekend will pass,
slowly... but it will pass. :D
and as for the house of flying daggers it's a visually stunning movie so resist the temptation to watch it untill you get your new set, it'll blow you away,
I watched it on my LG and was so inpressed I had to watch it again the next night on my front pro so I could see it at 2 metres wide.

Kazman,

Be warned - you may need to help bring in the screen yourself as when mine was delivered they sent an old bloke on his own and we had to carry it in.

It's not heavy but it is in a very big box.

I'm in the same boat. Been waiting for my 46" Samsung DLP for two weeks (on order from my small local retailer) and it's not fun. Don't even have a TV in the living room just in the bedroom. AND recently joined a DVD rental thingy, you know the kind where it's sent and returned by post.
Thing is the two weeks are up tomorrow....I think it will be late... :( :(

Still waiting, hopefully be delivered by Wed, waiting for the delivery call from Sagem themselves.

It really is agonisingly painful to wait :(

I feel ya pain metal ^^ but it may be a blessing in disguise as the samsungs are due a pricedrop before chrimbo which is when I will be grabbing one. Was tempted by pixmania but you dont get a stand with it and I got a comet superstore 2mins down the road if I need to rip someones head off for poor service etc.

Yeah you will be waiting a while. Mine was supposed to be here today and I have been told it may be up to another 3 weeks due to stock shortage with Samsung.

What is this price drop you speak of Jamesy_UK? Any credible sources or are you just trying to sneak up the waiting list? Might be worth cancelling my order and waiting a month if they are going to drop significantly.

 Bleedin' hell! 3 weeks? How long have you been waiting? I'll see if I can't get a few answers on Wednesday. If push comes to shove I might have to go for the 50" as they have that in stock. Might try to get a discount on the one they have on display...not sure if my other half will agree though

Good luck. I wanted the 50" but it was pretty much a no go area so I comprimised and went for the 46". I was given the choice of that or the 32" LCD and me wantee big TV.

I've been waiting two weeks now I think and it's horrible. All my cables that I've ordered have arrived but no TV.

And to think I could have had the Tosh 46" but when I tried it out with my Xbox and Halo 2 the smearing was intolerable. Even if it gets better with time I still could'nt see myself using it like that for x number of months.
I know I've got the right beast coming (like you I considered an LCD...a 37" Tosh) but bigger is better in my book!
Will try and get a few answers today!

I've also had no call from Sagem yet on a time for delivery, I was expecting this yesterday, but looks like I'm in for a wait :(.

Sorry to hear that...
I didn't receive an exact date for my tv so I kinda expected a delay, but it's worse when you genuinely believe that it's going to arrive...and it doesn't. No need to remind you though, eh?
Well I hope we all get ours soon..let's say by next Tuesday. Anyone want to make a bet on that?

So did you have any luck with the people you've ordered from?

It seems DLP technology has become really popular with people all of a sudden.

Kazman, I'd be livid if i'd be given a date for delivery and it didn't arrive. No phone call today means Friday at the earliest. Not cool.
