Using a Sony 7000 and a Daewoo 9000N(purchased in the USA),I have been trying the
various inputs to the PT AE 100 Proj.
Whilst it is a repetition of what has been said elsewhere it is totally apparent that the VGA input is by far the best of the the various choices. Not surprisingly the order is composite, svhs, component interlaced, component progressive and VGA progressive. However the order of improvement is not linear and VGA is hugely better and tighter than the rest.
In order to use a Sony 850 player(UK spec)I had been hoping to use John Sims's RGB scart to VGA converter. So far this has been unsuccessful though to be fair, John had doubts about it due to the proj's published horizontal frequency being outside of that required for the converter.
    It would be good to
hear from anybody with a greater technical understanding than I
as to why this is the case.
Overall the combination of the Daewoo player with its Progressive VGA output(cost $150) and this great value projector
    is magnificent!

How does the Daewoo DVG-9000N work with PAL (region 2) discs when using the vga output? Is it PAL progressive scan then or does it convert to NTSC progressive scan?

This Daewoo player does not convert to NTSC but has a simple remote hack to change the region.
Pal discs are indicated on the proj menu as SVGA and are distorted through the VGA input(tall and thin) suggesting some scaling.
PAL Images through composite and SVHS are normal but not up to the standard of the VGA route.
