Lots of great discussion as to the advantages of this or that player.

But if you could design a unit from scratch, what would it be like?

What features are omnipresent but useless?

Which features are rare, but vital?

    Any new ideas?

I'd like to see a menu/scroll/control system something like a computer mouse. It's something we're all used to, and would make navigation as easy as possible.

If the screen on your unit was something like a small pc screen, and the controls like those on a laptop, that'd be great.

    Steve

I have an XDA11i - it does video, audio etc but doesn't do all these things very well (no bass on MP3 playabck). Ultimate machine:

    Excellent screen
    Can play games
    Can easily view films
Can easily view stuff recorded onto staorage from other devices/or can view stuff easi;y via wifi.
Playback of MP3s via a good interface but also - some bass (megabass etc) and overall sound adjustment options.
Space - a bit of internal memory - but a 6/8 card reader more important.

The new PSM could be the answer (I have seen one - films and games look amazing), it has wifi however I bet they have just added MP3 playback without any sound adjustment.

So if I could have all the above, by tomorow, for say 199 - thanks!
