Went to my local dealer and they had one 55" F8000 in the back that I could have bought, but none on display until next week :( I almost just bought it, but I really need a 60" and didn't want to buy it just to have to return it when the 60" comes in. Grrr! So frustrated! I am dying to see and play around with the settings on this thing

No word on precision black on EU version, contrary to the US version.
Could it be that we have a downgraded version without the Precision black ?!

A little worried about the input lag on this for gaming (although i guess 0.4 is acceptable), anyone have the figures for es8000?

I know mate :(. I should go back to buy it just so I can put it side by side with my ES8000. Especially since I now have dual HDMI out inputs on my new Onkyo. The thing is, I would have to return it because I don't want or need another 55". We have too many of those sizes from all these years of that size being the norm. I'm sure a lot of people all around the world would love to see this too. Especially a video on YouTube :). The thing is, I'm not looking to be famous though..Haha!

According to Currys website, it should be available in the UK on the 27rd march.

Ha, well spotted, yes we infer that this is a cherry picked set.

Great find! Ok, I take that as a hint. I may go and buy another 60" ES8000. I am really thinking now from talking to someone at a store last night, that the ES8000 will be just like the F8000 with the Evo kit and this is why they aren't releasing the kit until all 2012 models are mostly sold out. What would you mates think about that?

These reviewers can't say anything about what they think otherwise Samsung will sue them probably..lol!
I heard they make people sign agreements at CES. Don't know how true this is or not, but I always felt that maybe this is why David K from Cnet is always so hard on Samsung's TVs. Maybe he knows a lot we don't? Hmm! LOL!

The US advertise the F8000 set as having "Precision Black" on top of Micro Dimming Ultimate :

Will the UK and EU F8000 have the same ?
Or is it something exclusive to the US (which would be a real shame) ?

I also think this is why that Corey guy that reviewed this F8000 on Amazon kept bringing up the F8500 plasma as being the best. If these reviewers say they get hand picked sets, then they won't get anymore to review..I would imagine

That sounds exactly like what my D8000s "Smart LED" setting does ;)

As I said before the reviewer of this TV on here Steve Withers knew nothing about the precision black when asked, that doesn't give me great hope we'll get it.

Yea but if you guys have the Smart LED setting, then that's what it is just called different in the US. If you guys look at the settings on the 2011 D8000 and ES9000, you will see that they have a setting called "Smart LED" this is the setting that is supposed to control the Micro Dimming. I think Im onto something here and that this precision is the same as smart led but just called precision because the 9000 its called smart led.

Which would be unfortunate as it seems to be dedicated to diminish clouding.
Cinema Black only helps with flashlighting in edges, but not clouding :(

I've noticed lately that Samsung changes the names to their settings for different country's. maybe to throw people off? But they all do the same exact thing

Which really makes me think that on our ES8000 "black Enhancement" setting is really the "Cinema Black" but called Black enhancer to throw people off

Manxus, if you look up what Smart LED does in the US, you will see the same description that you just posted for the pricision black

I better shut up while Im ahead here otherwise Samsung and all the dealers are going to hate me for figuring out their secret here.. Basicsally, Samsung can make certain settings not work the way they should from doing a FW update. Why would they though? So people like us buy all their new models. This is why I won't Update my FW anymore.

I also want to say, I have some older Samsung models that don't have Internet capability and never had a FW update and those models I never had any issues with and are still going strong. The picture quality has never changed either like they do on all my newer models. I think for me, no more updating :)

You know what Anthony I've checked back to the very first posts of the ES calibration thread and indeed black enhancer was included in people's settings that they posted up along with shadow detail, even edge enhancer was mentioned.

All I can think of is they were included in the very first sets but were taken away by FW updates. I recall getting mine 30.3.12 and updating immediately and of course these features never appear in any of my posted settings

Wow! Yulp, Samsung thinks they are slick messing with these FW updates on us. I wouldn't be surprised one bit! This is what I was trying to tell the US consumers last year on the forum, and so many of the "Fanboys" got mad it me. Is the truth though! Samsung will do whatever needed to sell more products. They are all about the money.. Hello :hiya::hiya::hiya:

Especially since Samsungs Micro Dimming is based on Software, this means that they can control it through updates. They can make the flashlighting better in the corners through updates. they can control the dimming zones. This is why some of their updates you notice better black levels. This is why they say its within specs now. Cause they want consumers to buy their newer models every year. Its like chasing that high but chasing that perfect picture quality.. I woke up to all this from analyzing their patterns and updates for the last few years. Also, it helps when you own all of their models dating back from 2007

Of course They will never ever admit to this because I would think its against the law to do shady stuff like this..
People can say what they want about this and about me, but just remember, I'm all about protecting the consumer here. I would consider myself as a "consumers advocate" so this is why Im like this and this is why i spend so much time on these forums. i get very upset when I see these billion dollar companies taking advantage of consumers

I love a good conspiracy theory

I posted the other day that I thought PQ and motion were now worse than they have been on the ES, could they be dumbing it down so the F can look better?

The flashlighting on my ES8000 has certainly never got any better with any firmware update rolled out.
