Thanks for posting this. Its good to see them pricing the 75" already. I see a lot of people in the US forum are asking about the 75". Not sure if they realize Samsung is supposed to be releasing a few models in the 75", but the larger sizes don't usually come out until later in the year and people are expecting to buy one in a month or so..

    Very exciting Robert!

Hey, I need your honest opinion Robert since your the one that may know this. What do you think about this Evo kit for the 2012 models. Do you think, or know if its really going to improve the picture on the ES8000? Or is it going to be more for Smart hub features and faster processor? I would think by the set getting the quad core processor, that it should maybe improve some things. What's your thoughts on this? I appreciate anything you can say about it :)

Anthony, I see your mate Corey Fisher has updated his review today on amazon, he gives it a massive thumbs up but stated it's not edge lit but a full back lit set ??

This is the message I posted for him.

Thanks for the update Corey. Do you still have your ES8000 with the latest 1047 FW on it? If yes, are you doing a side by side with this new model? I ask because when they released the 1046.2 update (AKA) The "Bladerunner" update to my bros in the forum, the default settings became much better then they were back in March last year. Actually, even the picture quality and black levels got much better. It almost looks as if the set has the "Cinema Black" now, even though its not called that in the settings. I read someone that this model doesn't have the "Black Enhancer" setting. Is this correct? If this is true, I'm wondering if Samsung just named it "black Enhancer" for the ES8000 so they can call it "Cinema Black" on the 75" ES9000 and charge a ridiculous price for it. And our black enhancer setting works the same as Cinema black? My D8000 definitely looks more like the ES now, where before the updates, you can tell the difference. It will be interesting to see if once the Evo kit comes out what gets added as far as settings and picture enhancements go.

A few other questions, does this set have the same stutter issues as the ES? Also, do you think its wise for others to not buy the ES8000 while the price is so cheap right now, and wait for this model and pay over $1K more? Is it really $1K or more better? I'm asking you this assuming you played around with the ES with the newest 1047 update. last but not least, do you think the Evo kit will bring the 2012 models "Picture quality" up to this new 2013 model, or do people need to buy this model to get the picture quality enhancements?
I appreciate anything you can answer here :)
    Thanks

Edit- a lot of people are confused by your last update. You mention this TV is a "Full backlit" but at CES, it was an Edge lit. Did Samsung change it into a Full Backlit after the show? Your the first person I ever heard this from. Everyone's been saying its an "Edge lit" along with their special precision (Micro) dimming

Other than making the display Smarter, I expect the only improvement in picture quality will come from the upgraded internal video processing/scaling and possibly some improvement in the software controlled micro precision dimming.

Hey mate, thanks for mentioning that I am now posting on this forum. I saw that comment where that member said I was "overbearing" and "condensending" :hiya: Lmao! Coming from a member like that who is out for himself and never goes out of his way to help anyone else but himself doesn't surprise me. Its funny how he said that, but had no issues reading all my updates and clicking on all the links I posted for everyone. I would love to see how big their balls were offline..lol! Sorry for the rant  Thanks again mate!

Nice! Good to finally see some action here.. Arenaman, I'm starting to think we are ok with our ES's. in fact, I'm even considering buying another ES8000 rather then pay all this money on a F8000 when the Evo kit may bring ours up to the F or very close to anyways since the processor. I keep going back and fourth. I'm going to wait to see what Robert says and this site you just posted. I saw your questions on there. Well done mate!

    Impressive !!

What are the odds that he got lucky with a panel free of clouding and backlight bleeding ?
In other words, what are the odds that most panels will be like his ?

I've always but unlucky with TV (be it plasma or LED) so I'm wary.

I'm seriously tempted by the F8 now but we need a top notch review to see how good it is.

If the EK gives us the full upgrade PQ wise then I'll buy that

If it's pants then I'll probably wait until the F8 is around £2k, sell my ES and put several hundred extra to get the F (No idea what I'll get for mine really)

Dare I say I'm actually pretty excited about this TV, in fact I'm gonna measure my stand and see if it'll fit ;) If this has no banding or DSE and of course no IR I think I might be getting one of these. Question is where would be the best place to buy from that would offer a 5yr guarantee and good after service...JL perhaps?

It sounds very nice indeed, but there is one point that stands out, i.e. the width of the stand. With my current set up "the TV will simply topple forward. Ouch."
The extra £££££s I need to find to get something to stand it on means they have lost a potential sale. It would be a stretch just for the TV!
The design looks nice enough. They just haven't thought through the practical aspects of it imo.

That stand is so ugly, really hate it. Can't they design a decent stand this year, the f8500 has a silly stand and this one has too. Not made my mind up on whether to stay with plasma or get a lcd again. Wanna see how the Sony sets perform too.

Wow that really is a pretty damn good report all round I have to say, it would appear Phil found very little if anything to criticize really. And yet people always maintain that Plasma has the edge when it comes to PQ so there must be something 'wrong' with the picture surely or could this actually be equal to a decent plasma when it comes to overall PQ with none of the plasma disadvantages (high power usage / IR for example)?

Very good it may be but you just know the F8500 is going to top it. This year we'll see another standard and then some all round.:)
