I bought the The Two Towers Extended Edition Collectors Boxset yesterday that comes with the little statue and making of Statue DVD but I was wondering, someone told me that the 4 discs DVD Set was made of better material in the boxset than the normal set you can buy but is this true because mine is exactly the same as the versions not in the set

i dont think its true of the TTT set - the packaging seems to be the same. but the fellowship set was much better in the collectors set than the non collectors edition (if you get my drift?)

    Hi

Take a look at this link:

    http://www.dvdbulletin.co.uk/news/756

It says in there, "These two versions will contain the same four discs inside, although the box set version will also boast lavish packaging..."

You can take it that they mean the box as a whole is lavish, but I believe they mean the case the discs reside in.

Packaging of TTT is indeed different depending if you go for the collectors edition with the statue or just the normal extended edition. If you look at the spine of the box the extended edition has a flimsy fold out flap, the collectors edition is a much sturdier design. Exactly the same difference as FOTR extended and collectors editions.

Has anyone watched the extended version?

Is it worth the extra £ and time?

Is Gollum supposed to come out the box the way the bookends did in the FOTR boxset? If it is, it's stuck in pretty well.

Its worth every single penny - The ending is much more complete - I dont care too much of the new tree beard scenes but the overall finish is soooo much better!

I don't know whether it's stuck in that well so it doesn't come loose in the box, or he's just supposed to stay in there. I don't really want to knacker the box up trying to get it out.

Bought it yesterday based on reccs. I had to destroy the box to get the gollum out....

It is wrapped in polystyrene at the botton, which is held together by a cable tie and then the whole thing was glued into the bottom of the box.

Not seen the video yet but my 8 year old went to bed with a gollum last night so that is the last I will see of that!

Back to the main point, I went back to where I bought the boxset on wednesday and they had another set there and the outer box that holds the 4 discs is indeed made from a stronger material so I took mine back and they swapped it over, I didnt pay £40 for an incomplete set lol
