    Any reviews of this yet?

Not as good as the 1982 Carpenter version, but I quite liked it nevertheless.

    Cheers! :smashin:

If you mean the blu-ray, I don't think it's out until the end of the month in the States?

Thats right, though most of the importers will be shipping in maybe just over a week.
Expect it around the 22nd delivered.

Movietyme, PlanetAxel and DVDWorldUSA should all ship early and are customs friendly but you will pay a premium, I am going to be patient (new for me lol) and either wait till someone lists it in the classifieds here or get it from DVDExpress247 who have it for £17.99 but don't ship until release.

I got a shippped email from Planetaxel this morning. So, if it arrives by the weekend it looks like a 'The Thing' double bill on Saturday night.
But, do I watch them in chronological order or release order?

Watched the prequel then the original as the ending should near enough seamlessly lead into the original, that is what I plan to do.

that's probably what I will do. It also means that if I think the prequel isn't any good (I haven't seen it), I've still got the John Carpenter classic to put on and say to myself "Ah, this is how it's done."

I've just ordered the UK Version from Play as it contains the John Carpenter version at no extra cost.

Hopefully that's the last time I need to buy the "original" - Now, what to do with the vhs/laserdisc/us dvd/us bd?

I can't see that in the description on Play.com .

To make it even more confusing Amazon have it as 2 discs (Blu-ray + Digital Copy) but HMV have '3 blu Triple Play' in their product title.

Edit, The Hut, Zavvi etc have it as 3 discs too.

The double pack is the same price, £17.99, on amazon UK, if anybody prefers amazon over play.

In stock at both. Movietyme shipped my copy this morning. A bit pricey but I quite enjoyed the film.

Its a Universal release so region free is pretty much a guarantee.

    Only 2 B's.

I haven't seen the new one but I reckon they would have given the '82 version only 2 as well (In 1982).

    Always the optimist.

I've started to take all their film reviews with a pinch salt since they started to give all christian films an automatic 5 out of 5. I mainly read their reviews for the technical aspects now. I read other review sites for film reviews. Of course, the avforums reviews are still the best for comprehensive and unbiased reviews.

Ive read this review and I think the reviewer is being rather harsh. Seems like he's determined to put the film down. Sure its not as good as the original but I enjoyed it and Ill be buying on blu. I can wait for the UK one though - hopefully it will match that new HMV slipcase of the original though! :)

I notice there was a review of Real Steel there (4.5/5) too. Now, I havent seen it yet but this review seemed way over the top to me. And the "great family entertainment" quotes have already started to put me off this film! ;)
