The Summerhouse Cinema

Looking good!
That’s one hell of a long drill bit I must say and a large resulting plaster burst on the other side;):)

Due to the height difference in the rooms it had to run on an angle, the walls in this (old) house are really thick too. Thankfully the big hole is right on top of and at the back of a unit you can't see it, although I'll make it good :)

Bit more boxing in done, what's people's thoughts on whether I should stuff the boxing? It sounds fairly hollow to tap. Maybe some of the cheap fluffy type insulation?

Cool, thought it would be best but thanks for confirming :)

General advice seems to be an cavity that can resonate just fill it with pink fluffy.

Second fix started today, sockets and switches have been wired:

I've got the comms cabinet up on the wall:

I've stuffed it with some loft insulation that seemed reasonably cheap in Wickes

Has anyone sourced APA102 LED strips recently for a reasonable price?

I've contacted a Chinese company on Alibaba but they're trying to flog me SK9822 knock offs instead claiming that APA have changed the LEDs to APA102-8192 which 'arent as stable'.

Outside lights either side of the door:

Baffle wall framing complete:

That space in the middle at the bottom will be filled with the sub :D

This only helps if we know how big you are,

If your the size of an Umpa Lumpa then its rather small, if your a 6'10" WWE Wrestler then its rather large

:p:D

Somewhere in the middle and not as orange :D

Layer of MDF and another layer of plasterboard put across the wall this morning. No pic as it looks just the same!

Electrician finished up today, all hooked up, tested and council notified:

The front speaker lights may well end up not doing a lot depending on screen fabric, we'll see.

I admire my wife's patience with me taking forever!!

Thank you!

Little update on all the bits going on...
  • Front wall is nearly complete, I just need to glue a few more foam tiles on.
  • Banana sockets, plugs and solder has arrived so I can terminate the audio cables into the comms cabinet and tin the ends for the plugs at the speakers.
  • I'm wiring all of the Cat-6 and audio wall modules for Ethernet/subwoofer connections.
  • All 16 Cat-6 are terminated in the comms cabinet and I now have a Ubiquiti Switch/Access point working.
  • I've connected one Aeotec Nano Z-Wave Dimmer to the main downlights but need to wire a Load Bypass in place for better dimming range. I got some Wago connectors for that. The 3-way retractive switch isn't operating it at the moment for some reason, need to spend some time diagnosing why not. 47mm back boxes was a great choice!
  • Carpet tiles are on order, hopefully to arrive this week.
  • LED strips have arrived and I'm currently working out how's best to power them although I still need to do work on the soffit boxing.
