The Stand Season 1 Premiere (Starz) TV Show Review & Comments

Awesome. Will check it out then. The Wife banned porn in the house, so any TV nudity is magnificent.
The other poster didn't mention it's Whoopi doing "those" scenes.

This is what really bugs me about Amazon Prime Video, and now Apple TV. I see a series I want to watch advertised as being on Amazon, but only to find out you need another subscription for a totally different service to be able to watch it...

This is weak in so many areas . The flash forward and back structure is deeply annoying offering little in the way of following a character's development arc. I counted 5 separate time frames for a single character in one episode.

The actors seem hopelessly miscast and performances are dull.

The cinematography is bland and cramped in the extreme. It looks worse than the previous serious and eveb more set bound and hokey

The jump scares are so predictable , the pandemic feels like its over and done in a day. I really don't think I can stick with this and I'm a big fan of the book.

Even the music is off kilter and not in a good way. Just feels amateurish and pointless . Really disappointing.
agree, very weak and after the third show, decided not to watch any more.

I remember reading the 'unexpurgated version' of this book back in the 1990s and really liking it until it got to the usual King 'good vs evil' scenario. It seemed at the time every one of his books ended up being the same kind of thing. He's always been excellent at building a plot intially and great dialogue but the stories as a whole mean I can't face watching them.

the show is absolutely dreadful. I love the book but having the show in a non linear way just kills it for me. Its very confusing for someone who does not know the book. For example the start of the book is shown at the end of the first epiosde. i was hoping this would be good but i actually thought it was worst that the dark tower film and that was crap

Just don’t watch it while you’re eating :zonked:

the scenes of people with the disease are vomit inducing!

As bad as the radiation victims in Chernobyl?

My partner stopped watching it after those.

In Chernobyl it’s harrowing & upsetting but in this it’s just disgusting 🤢

Does anyone know day the new episodes air in the UK? Was hoping it was tonight, but no sign so far...

I think it's Sundays

Talk about an ad for eating more sea fish and avoiding Goitres.

I know everyone’s crapping on this but I’m sticking by my guns on this one. Watched the second episode and still think it’s making a very decent fist of it. Yes, the timehopping narrative is unwelcome, and you can see what they’re doing. They’re going to tell the first half of the book — the individual character journeys — in flashback at portentous moments. That’s definitely annoying.

But. It is very well made, and I think both the cast and the script are firing on the necessary number of cylinders. I shall watch on as new episodes appear.

Many thanks - making do with the rather excellent Castle Rock in the meantime :smashin:

Castle Rock was brilliant. Especially Season 2. Can't believe they cancelled it.

Anyone know of a way to view this in 4k in the UK? I've done the 3 months at 99p thing to add Starz to my Prime account, but that doesn't appear to do 4k?
I see it is 4k on CBS All Access in the US.

Replies only to say how to do it legally please :)

You can't certainly view it using a VPN or DNS service and subscribe to CBS in the same way quite a few forum members have been subscribing to HBO max.

I'm three episodes in, watching at Starzplay pace, it's certainly slow burn, but as a big fan of the book, I'm enjoying it.

Tempted by Castle Rock , but reviews say it's a really slow burn?

Kind of, but not as bad as some stuff. It's very intriguing.

Stick with it and it's well worth it. Season 2 is fantastic.

Pretty much wraps up as well with a great ending, so it's not like the cancellation ruins everything that went before.

Episode 6 The Vigil brilliant.

"M-O-O-N"

"Last one down, first one up"

- Stu

"Don't be silly"
"That thing growing inside of you is our prince"👍

- Flagg

Finished final episode, I enjoyed all 9 eps.
Not on the scale of The Outsider which was mind-blowing but a solid 8/10.

Now say it with me, ready.................
