This is probably unfair but the "acting" in the trailers looked forced.

"The world of spy films has been crying out for a female-driven film. From the all-business Bourne series to the semi-serious clashes of James Bond to the silly spectacle of Kingsman, there’s not really been much legitimate exploration of the female perspective."

Pretty sure Atomic Blonde did this in spades recently if I remember?

Domino, Kill Bill and Colombiana weren't spy films. Domino was a bounty hunter and in Colombiana and Kill Bill they were just out for revenge.
But I know what you're saying. It's like a new film comes out and reviewers often forget everything that's come before and more than likely did all the groundwork. At least some of that list should have been recent enough to be front and centre in their memory

What I take away from this is that spy films with female lead characters are way better than their male counterparts :)

another plus 1 for atomic blonde.... Charlize Theron is utterly convincing in the role as wells. 80's cold war setting with a decade matching soundtrack... the whole thing is awesome and has a killer UHD for PQ/SQ.

and Kunis's voice really grates when she shouts, hope she does not do it in every scene.

Looking forward to this tomorrow though.

And Mrs Smith more than held her own against Mr. Smith.

Alright but apart from Atomic Blonde, Salt, Red Sparrow, Hanna, Haywire, Colombiana, Domino, The Villainess, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Nikita, Kill Bill, Spy, Mission Impossible's Ilsa Faust, Black Widow, Bond women and Mr & Mrs Smith...

...what have the Romans ever done for us?

Thank you - reminded me to put this on my "to watch" list.
But this one? Think I'll pass - never warmed to Kunis.

If you don't like slow films I wouldn't bother with AB, I ended up walking out after an hour.

really? I didn't find Atomic Blonde slow at all. And I'm guessing if you left after an hour you probably missed one of the best extended one-take action sequences I've seen in ages. It certainly appears to be shot in one take anyway, although there's probably some editing tricks in there to make it look that way.
One man's meat is another man's murder, I suppose, but slow's not a word I'd use to describe Atomic Blonde, myself

No problem with slow Films at all (as long as the pace fits the theme - BBC's Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy comes to mind, and a couple of nights ago, Hostiles).
So looks like it will work for me :)

      Ill spoiler just incase.

The film just seemed to drag on, constant back and forth to holding room and in the one hour I was there it was pretty much 1 action scene unless I dozed off and missed one.

Loved this one, was laughing all the way through. Great action scenes, couple nice surprises and twists (a few I saw coming, some I twigged last minute) really enjoyed it.

Will probably go again, I am ****** off that my local 8 screen isn't showing "Alpha" though
