    Song: 'Born Slippy' by Underworld

Why?: It totally reminds me of being at university and drinking and having the time of my life. Danny Boyle made inspirational use of it at the end of trainspotting. The opening makes me feel terribly nostalgic.

Had the same song at my wedding earlier this year.

Everlong by the Foo Fighters does it for me. Can't explain why though, its just one of those things.

Hard habit to break by chicargo.
Hands to heaven by a group called breathe.
She makes my day and true love by Robert plamer.

All these songs seem to be on when ever I have female troubles or family issues. They just some how stir up an emotional responce. :)

Almost anything by the Blue Nile - esp the album Hats - if a broken heart could sing it would sound like the blue nile.

I was going through hell emotionally when i found "Hats" in 1991 - every track track made me cry like a baby. I still play it at least once a week and it still makes me well up.

Pink floyd - the gunners dream

Our second daughter died last year aged just 3 weeks, there was a period when I didn't want to hear any music. This was the first thing I played after that, it kept me focused and got me back to partial reality.

Somewhere over the rainbow by Eva Cassidy

When the Tigers Broke Free by Rodger Waters

both spring to mind easily, but theres loads of others and loads that inspire different emotions.

Chris Deburghs Lady in Red for Instance, makes me want to pick up an axe and bury it between those eyebrows

I have the 7" single (gatefold sleeve) somewhere

it speaks for itself really, as does the Gunners Dream (my choice above).

    Not songs, but music;

"Ice" by Camel and "My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose" by The Black Dyke Mills Band.

    David

    PS
Personally, I prefer "The Final Cut".

A cover of The Vaselines track..........but the best cover of the three and probably better than the original (although IMO they made a right mess Mollys Lips and Son of a Gun). The Vaselines albums is a great buy if its still available.

Virtually everything by Nirvana gets to me in some way, I definitely miss them. Cant wait to get my hands on those 68 unreleased tracks

For me, Death or Glory by The Clash (or at least covered by The Clash ;) )

I listened to the album over and over during a period of unemployment where I was very angry and depressed yet determined and the edgy side of it cuaght me and helped me carry on a bit. Once I found a job the other side of the song came through and cheers me up whilst reminding me of the bad times I'd already gone though.

Also Basketcase by Green Day which invariably reminds me of great times at ACF camps. They were so much work but I loved every minute :)

Strange at 21 that I feel like I was born too late and missed all the best punk of the late 70's. I'd be the same age as my parents if I'd been there though!
